As the Alma matter of the MASHV R& D course R&D course on “Post harvest Physiology, Pathology and Handling of Fresh Commodities”-2015, Volcani Agricultural Complex, strongly appose the evisceration of Volcani Center. As like in India, the relocation proposal makes it very very difficult to attract and retain Allende manpower make the situation bad to worse as the year moves. I just like share some views shared by scientist from Head Researcher (Garden Plants) from Southern Arava R&D, Eilot, Israel. during my visit '' they concern was as this most remote place and not well connected to main land, getting young scientist to here is very difficult, further he said I am almost near 70 year, strength is dwindling, further research is hindering only due to remoteness of the place. I dont want Volcani Center to happen like that by relocation. Present place is most well suited. Good institute doest arise over night . It take many years.

I attended MASHAV International Course on R & D in Postharvest Practices at Volcani Center in 2007 (Feb to March 2007). The benefit from the training impacted greatly on me, colleagues, my Institute and the country at large. The output of the training brought about establishment of a packinghouse for fresh fruits in the institute in 2010 for research, training , teaching and demonstration for all stakeholders in fresh fruit commodity value chain. Relocating Volcani Center from Bet-Dagan will affect Israeli agriculture. Therefore, I strongly affirm my support that Volcani Center be retained at its current location -Bet-Dagan.

I was at Volcani Center in 2006 ( Jan to Feb, 2006) attended an international course on research and Development in Post Harvest Practices. I have benefited a lot from the training both academically, in my research output and generally in my work output. I pray and hope many more scientists from all over the world specially the African Continent continue to benefit from the center. Thus I add my voice to support this petition and also appeal to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development not to close the center.

I have had the opportunity to participate in training course on post harvest physiology and pathology at the Volcani Centre during 2013. I was quite impressed by the surroundings and ambiance of the Volcani Centre. Even today I still have fond memories of the lectures at the center and the interactions between staff and participants from a wide cross section of countries. I think that this institution is a thing of great value not only for the State of Isreal but for the persons from numerous other countries who have been fortunate to have received training there. I think that the Volcani Center should be maintained at its current location.

The Location of the Volcano Centre is strategic and should not be relocated. I strongly support and endorse the petition not to relocate or scrap the Volcano Centre because of the very important role it plays in the agricultural revolution of Israel as a Nation and the world at large.

Dera Síria/Madam,
I did attend the International Postharvest Course in 2009 and it was a turning point in my professional life.
The worldwide recognition of the Volcani Center, mainly in Postharvest field, was fundamental for my will to attend the course. However, the location of the center also was import. As we all know, Israel is in state of war and to travel to an area which the conflict is near by makes it difficult for someone from overseas to take a decision to joking the course.

Gustavo Henrique Teixeira

It will be unfortunate to move Volcani Center away from its central location where historically it has attracted major collaborations with nearby academic institutions. The future needs of agricultural research to feed growing world population require that research programs in agriculture are well supported and that they are located in areas that promote multidisciplinary collaborations. We need to attract top class scientists to address a myriad of complex problems arising from the climate change. The current location of Volcani Center, a world class program, offers the most appropriate environment to advance agricultural science in Israel.

I had many very successful EU projects and joint ventures with researchers from the Volcani Center. How can they consider to close such a valuable and important organisation. It provides more benfits than costs to the state of Israel, not to talk about the high reputation of Volcani worldwide.

Keep agricultural research strong in Israel! As world leaders in many areas of agricultural research for several generations, it is important to Israel, the Middle East and the world that the Volcani Center remains intact and strong.
