In 2015 Volcani Center hosted European Conference on Precision Agriculture (ECPA). The ECPA committee has selected the Volcani Center because of its nice facilities, the good travelling logistics (Ben Gurion airport, hotels) and last but not least due to the excellent contributions of its researchers to precision agriculture. As international collaboration is an important factor in high-level research, relocating the Volcani Center to a remote outpost will badly influence the Center's performance.

Scientists at Volcani are excellent researchers and outstanding personalities. Teir approaches are creative and innovative approaches. We appreciate collaboration in joint projects which tackle grand challenges that agriculture and enviromne t face. Volcani is important for Israel and Europe and the world. Please let it fulfill its important future role.

I am currently collaborating with Dr. Tzahi Arazi at the Volcani Center to study how small RNAs control flower and fruit development. Our project is supported by BSF and NSF. I am looking forward to visiting the Volcani Center in 2017 to explore more collaboration opportunities in the future. Moving the Volcani Center will dramatically hurt our collaboration, and I believe it will be also detrimental to many other researches and collaborations.

I have collaborated with a colleague at the Volcani center for many years. Moving it to a location far away from technology and education centers is a bad idea as it would stifle its research and innovation.

I have visited the Volcani Center, met with quite a few scientists there and am currently working with a Volcani scientist. The Center has for many years been one of the premier agriculture research facilities in the world and hence developments there are followed with great interest around the world. It is a world-class facility with highly regarded researchers conducting important research that serves Israel and the international scientific community. Moving it will have negative consequences on the vitality and productivity of the researchers. It would be an incredibly unfortunate time to lose such an international treasure. History would judge this a very short-sighted decision.
