Petition to Save Volcani Center

This institute spawned a number of incredibly fruitful collaborations/

I can not believe there is any benefit to the proposed change. It will be a big loss for Israel!

The Volcani Center should be located in the center of the nation. If relocated international visitation would decrease dramatically.

The present location of the Volcani Center is well suited to its serving the purposes of connecting different research communities and end users of research and technology. To relocate a center that is working well does not seem like a prudent decision. Please reconsider.

My interactions with faculty at the Volcani has been excellent and I believe their current location in Israel enhances its importance and future contribution to agricultural research in Israel and the across the globe.

Collaboration with the Volcani Center has been very productive. Its current location in proximity to academic and industry programs that share the vision of the Volcani Center has brought a collegiality that fueled much of its success that would likely be lost by moving it to an isolated location.

Why to destroy what is working?Practically, relocating the Institute will be a costly non necessary move, which will seriously jeopardize a world renown institution, it operations and extension and inter-disciplinary work. This is not a smart decision.

Cooperative effort in science is the key to innovation. The Volcani Center is a classic example of a group of scientists representing varied backgrounds and that work and strive together to innovate for the agricultural industry of Israel. Many of these concepts are shared with the rest of the world. Some of the best and brightest scientist come from this group and flourish in its creative environment. The tragedy would be Israel's if this center were moved or disbanded.

The Volcani Center has been a world renowned agricultural science research center, contributing to significant achievements and advanvements of agriculture not only in Israel but also around the world. I spend 3 months in Volcani Center, and have collaborations through BARD projects and other scientific activities with colleagues from the Center. I believe the current location is ideally suited and changing the location would bring many challenges to overcome and affect productivity of the center.

The synergy provided by the current location of Volcani is integral to their prior and ongoing success and impact. A move would likely have a significant negative impact.

The Volcani Center should not be transferred from its current location as it will hamper ongoing collaborations with other universities and will further reduce their research productivity.

It would be a shame to see the Volcani Center close. This institute has been at the forefront of agriculture discovery for decades. The dissolution of the Center would not only be a lose to Israel but to the entire scientific community.

This relocation would damage the intangible benefits of the synergies amongst scientists from different disciplines. The current location is famous for the intellectual environment that it creates. Please reconsider this ill-advised change.

The Volcani Center is currently ideally situated to take advantage of the synergies that accrue through co-location with Israel's leading universities and proximity to the country's farmers and ag-tech companies. The proposed relocation is foolish and unnecessary, and will severely compromise the Center's mission.

Volcani needs to remain in close proximity to Hebrew U. and other partners to work efficiently

I have strong respect for my research colleagues at Volcani Center and believe this relocation would hamper their research productivity and accessibility to client taxpayers. A very short-sighted idea.

The current location of the Volcani Center is ideally-suited for the type of multidisciplinary interactions that will be critical for moving science forward. It would be a disservice to move ahead with this relocation plan.

The Volcani Center is a "Sister" Institute of the World Food Preservation Center LLC www. worldfoodpreservation.com that is now comprised of twenty two major research universities and two major research institutes on six continents. The Volcani Center's present proximity to major agricultural universities and institutes is essential in initiating and implementing cooperative programs between the World Food Preservation Center LLC and the Volcani Center. I have collaborated with scientists at the Volcani Center. This is a great center and moving it would be counter productive.

I am in strong support of NOT closing the Volcani Center. I have been to Volcani many times. It is a vital, important research center for Israel. Moving this facility would be counter productive in my view. Marty
