It's a shame the city wants to teardown and encroach on existing single family housing to support small expensive apartments and townhomes. Stay out of the residential areas!

My father had his business on Maple and I grew up three blocks from 5th street. I have kept those friendships and the attraction to keep coming back is the atmosphere and what is offered. Please don’t let this be lost.

Leave Valley Junction the way it is. I would rather see small locally owned business rather than a Google apartment.

My husband and I had a business (Pots and Plants) there many years ago. I remember those times and the area with great fondness. Even though I haven't lived in WDM for many years I will hope that you will bring Valley Junction back to its glory years.

HVJ has been a wonderful community since I moved to Des Moines in 1985. Don’t ruin it and make it harder for businesses.

My family grew up in Valley Junction, I grew up in Valley Junction. It has an old charm that's like no place in Des Moines. Improve on the history and old charm, so not take that away from community members. It's not broke so don't fix it, we don't need another place that mimics the East Village.

As a many decades visitor and shopper in Valley Junction, I have been disappointed in the recent developments of the area, taking away from the makeup that made it standout! The parking situation has become a problem for shoppers, as well as unfair to the small businesses! Don’t destroy this Iowa and West Des Moines gem!

I have lived in the area and enjoyed VJ for nearly 40 years. Stop allowing its historical significance to be ruined.

When an area sells it's soul for dollars, it has lost it's way. The retailers are invested in this area. They are the lifeblood. Office dwellers don't care about the area. The dwell while needed and move on. You need parking solutions for the mess you've created and a fresh set of eyes to see the thing people love to come to. Open your eyes before it's too late.

Please preserve the history and charm of our area when considering changes whether bringing in new businesses or tearing down old ones. It all matters to those of us who live here.

This is my neighborhood, I grew up in the area, so have other members of my family and several friends. No one likes change, but especially when there is absolutely no reason to change something and place that is and has been loved & appreciated for 50 plus yrs! I do NOT know one person who wants to take away the charm, taint the history and make 5th street only a memory. PLEASE leave it alone!!! Most of us already know that certain so called leaders in WDM city are very greedy and money hungry. We don't need or want any more proof! I want to continue living in this area as is. If I wanted to live in other parts of the city, I would. But I don't want to, especially don't want to move because of a big city's fat, money hungry head.
