I believe the current municpal leaders (and I use that word loosely) should be ashamed of themselves. My father worked for years to build up the Northside and he would be rolling around in his grave if he knew this. Cecel Clarke, you are a turncoat who is so interested in having power, you have forgotten that the people expected you to represent their wishes.., you have been a huge disappointment to the people and I will do anything I can to support the retention of this very worthwhile site....Shame, Shame, Shame and as my mother would say, "Is your mother proud of you????'

As a former resident of Cape Breton, and more specifically the Northside area, I am sickened to hear about the potential sale of Archibalds Wharf. "The boardwalk" to those of us who grew up frequenting this area as children, teens, and adults - for more reasons than this location being one of the very few available to us, has become a place familiar to our hearts and minds. The nostalgia it elicits for both former and current residents is worth much more than $200,000. The fact that the CBRM is willing to put a price tag on the same place we attended Canada Day Celebrations, Bartown Day festivals, and numerous other events year after year is sincerely disheartening. Upon the sale of this "lot" as it is no longer of any value or namesake, will confirm, to me, the fact that Cape Breton is dying, in morals and opportunities, and it is no longer a slow death. The CBRM can officially lay to rest any unsure ideas as to why its constituents are running like hell for the Causeway, just as I did.

I find it tragic that the CBRM would entertain and approve such a deal. The costs to taxpayers to build Archibalds Wharf were in the millions and they turn around and attempt to entertain a pitiful sale price of $200,000. How pathetic!! Downtown Commercial Street needs this green space, this community needs this green space and it belongs to the community. How awful our downtown area looks with chain linked fence lined streets. I view Canadian Maritime Engineering's yard daily there is alot of room, not much action and few employees. They previously stated 50-75 jobs in there first move at this location and that did not happen. All is not what it seems. I believe that sale price of Archibald's Wharf to be over one million. Someone has a hand in someone's pocket in this transaction and the wonderful people of North Sydney and Cape Bretoners are getting stabbed in the back. This transaction will take away from the quant little town of business and erect more chain link fencing. Curretnly tourists and onlookers can enjoy downtown and a beautiful greenspace to witness the Atlantic Ferry arrivals and departure and beautiful scenes of the harbour. If this sale goes through you will enjoy a chainlink view!! Disgusting! Give you head a good shake CBRM!!!

With no GUARANTEE of jobs in place and a ridiculous selling price of $200,000 for a property which should sell for $1M~ this proposed sale is completely ridiculous.

Our downtown has just recently had a rebirth with some of the best restaurants in the island, new and fantastic stores, and our gorgeous new library. Why would we want to stop the growth of our downtown? This was once a thriving downtown core that I only ever knew about from stories my parents and grandparents would tell. I used to be ashamed as a young person to be a northsider, but as an adult I am EXTREMELY proud of the people who have made it their mission to revive our downtown. There is no better feeling than going for a walk or a run while watching your little town grow around you. That little boardwalk perhaps isn't beingg utilized in the way it could be, but perhaps if money was invested on this side we wouldn't be having this petition.

I am heart broken at the thought of losing this gree space that is right in the down town area of North Sydney.

I am disgusted. This is one of the only areas where the community gets together on a regular basis. WE HAVE NO DEVELOPMENT IN NORTH SYDNEY. This is unbelievably pathetic. Historic properties are falling into the ocean, historic buildings are being torn down instead of preserved, and now Marine Atlantic has restricted access to downtown from Purves St. If you'd like more people to leave that haven't already, you're doing a fine job.

Time for the councillors to be on the side of the people . They DO NOT want this property sold. Give us our pride and dignity.

This is just as ridiculous as the idea of the war memorial at Green Cove. Might as well tack a "For Sale to the First Bidder" sign on the causeway and sell the whole Island lock stock and barrell.

There is more to life than money. Social well being is more important than short term industrial development. Don't take away community spaces.
