I have personally seen where these “clean” emission tractors and combines consume way more fuel than older models. Also I’ve seen exhausts get dangerously hot from the regeneration cycle to clean the DPF filters. It’s not necessary or safe considering the amount of time these types of equipment sit most of the year when not in use.

This has never made sense to Me , By the time We mine Export and use all the steel and material to build these , All the employees who drive to the factories to build them and design them , By the time they make the DEF and haul it all over the US , All the plastic that is used and cardboard for 1 jug at a time We have more then doubled the pollution that it was intended to save

tier 4 has been a massive destructive force on many us businesses, loss of efficiency and loss or reliability has destroyed many different businesses , let capitalism work let the most efficient design win not the government mandated garbage that doesn’t work dictate the market and the R&D of engine manufacture!!

Diesel is the bi-product of making gasoline and used to be cheaper than gas and is less polutive but now it is more expensive and more constricted for emissions than gas and only for the state to bring in more revenue!

I manage the service dept. At a caseih dealer, tier 4 engines are the most expensive, and biggest nitemare we face on a daily basis. They are not efficient, and definitely unreliable.
