Essential for me to see my parents!!!

If this results in extended and more expensive flights to Alderney, I and I'm sure many other visitors will be forced to reduce or even abandon our trips. I always spend a fair amount of money for accommodation and food, which obviously is of benefit to the Island economy. If this goes ahead then there is bound to be a negative impact. How many will simply terminate their journeys in Guernsey?

Cant imagine my favourite island to survive without it. Plus my dog would be devastated

To transit via Guernsey with our dog would be intolerable and too stressful for the dog. We have been flying to our Alderney home for more than twenty years with our dogs.

Please listen to the calm, sensible voices and keep this essential service. In fact, please return it to the state when you were successfully running piston engined aircraft on this route and not losing money.

The extra time to fly via Guernsey makes it prohibitive for a short break.

I have now had to go to Southampton for treatment a few times, To fly via Guernsey to the mainland when you feel so ill, is a horrendous thought. On appointments in Guernsey, I have been unable to get back due to bad weather or just too few flights. When you are ill you just want your own bed after treatments. Being stranded and unable to get home is nothing nice to look forward too.

Over 30 years I have watched the planes get old and be scrapped, nothing replaced until only one tri-lander left, the replacements are not great if you have disability. They fly less frequently, so the number of tourists has decreased. No tourists means less Jobs, the next generation look for work and employment off island. The population age grows along with the social payments and health care. More planes means everyone prospers. Tourists come back, jobs in bars restaurants, shops increase, numbers in the school increase, and new ideas for new ventures equals more taxes paid to cover the costs of education, health care. police ect.

The Alderney Southampton route is essential as it is a direct service enabling quick travel to and from the mainland. It connects mainland UK to Alderney In 35 - 40 minutes. Travel to the mainland via Guernsey takes more than half a day with poor connection times, and long check in x 2 (30 Minutes Ald/Gsy followed by second trip through security and 1 hour wait in Gsy before flying to UK) On return duty free purchased in UK needs to be repacked in hold luggage. Our family use visit several times a year, but the cost now prohibits this. This is probably true of many people.

We cannot lose this link. Imagine having to go to Southampton for medical treatment and having to get to Guernsey the day before and have to stay there on the way back as well because the connections don't work with appointments. Who will foot that bill?

The Southampton route is a lifeline that can’t be made redundant.

As the only direct transport link with the UK it’s essential that we retain it for the economic security of the island of Alderney.

The direct link is essential to ensure a sustainable amount of tourism and thus the island's future
