As a frequent visitor to Alderney it is essential that the Southampton/Alderney route not only continues but is increased, not only for the benefit of the tourists but also for the island.

The Alderney Southampton route is essential as it is a direct service enabling quick travel to and from the mainland. It is beneficial to Alderney as it makes travel here a lot less messy than changing at Guernsey. Our family use it in preference to Manchester as it is a direct flight. It also means we can bring our dog with us. We see this as an important consideration when determining where to holiday. I think this is probably true of many people.

I agree with with the economic arguments, but it it the implications for health and wellbeing that particularly concern me. The deomgraphics of Alderney are interesting: more than a third of Islanders are aged 65 or older. Some medical services are not available in Guernsey and patients must go to Southampton for these necessary test, services and procedures. It would be financially, physically and emotionally stressing to have to fly there via Guernsey, and to expect the elderly and infirm—worried about their health (or that of a relative)—to do so would, in my view, be immoral.

This air link is vital for commerce to exist and thrive in Alderney. I want to bring my business to the island but without a direct air link it would be unthinkable

How are people with dogs going to get to Alderney.At present the Alderney/Southampton route is the only way

It's quite simple: No Southampton/Alderney Air Route equals restricted tourism into the island, no easy connection to Southampton or other mainland hospitals for island residents, likewise no direct train link to London, it would account for serious inaccessibility for second home owners, it would deter those wishing to start up business on Alderney, it would make it difficult for students from Alderney to travel to and from their Universities, or for island families to take holidays to Europe and beyond. It is the ONLY link to the mainland as there is no boat connection. This closure will isolate islanders and make Alderney appear an unwelcome destination. It is therefore VITAL that the Southampton - Alderney route is maintained as IT IS A LIFELINE ROUTE!

It is imperative that the Southampton/Alderney route continues. It is vitally important as it connects Alderney residents to their mainland families, it provides an essential route for those requiring hospital treatment in Southampton or London, it is used by the majority of second home owners and also by islanders that wish to make holiday arrangements to Europe and beyond. If Alderney is to survive, this airlink MUST be retained .

It is vital that this link is retained not only for medical reasons but for the community as a whole.
It is an an extremely important link to the Southern part of the uk for business & visitors to & from Alderney & links up with other important & frequently used areas of the UK. To have to travel to Guernsey first to get off the Island would be the Death Knell for Alderney & all who love it!

This is far more important to the people of Alderney for tourism,train link to London and the access to Southampton Hospital for medical treatment

It would be an absolute disaster for Alderney if this air link was stopped. Many of the people who like to visit the island are families and the idea of having to change flights in Guernsey with the changes in sea mist and other weather situations would stop them from visiting.

The Southampton route has always been, and will always be, a vital lifeline in medical, economic, and psychological terms for the island of Alderney and its people. It is our direct link to the Crown upon which we depend and our wider global family, personal and professional. removal of the route will only increase the need for Alderney to draw on Bailiwick resources.

Without the Southampton link our tourism industry would die and it would be very difficult to attract businesses and investment to the Island. This will result in a big net loss of tax paid to Guernsey.
