We, the residents of East and West Highland View Drive (HVD) in Boise, Idaho, 83702, and neighboring streets, respectfully request that Ada County Highway District (ACHD) remove the walkway candles that were recently installed on the north side of HVD and respectfully request that ACHD remove the walkway candles that were installed last year on the south side of East Curling Drive. Furthermore, we respectfully request that ACHD cease any further planned traffic mitigation measures on HVD until such measures are fully vetted by HVD residents.

I’m wondering if there is any evidence that these devices actually improve safety. So far my experience has been that they actually endanger our children. The installation on Curling resulted in making the walking path unplowable causing snow not only build up, but be plowed into the walking lane. Kids ended up having to walk or bike in the street. In the spring there was a ton of lose gravel that the street sweepers couldn’t reach.

525 Balmoral Rd. I travel on Highland View often to carpool kids or visit friends & I believe the candles should be removed. A white painted line would suffice, and allow for snow removal and street cleaning.

The plan for the curbing has not been studied. Not only will snow removal but difficult but it will cause accidents with bicyclist since they will not be able to ride within the curbing as it is too restrictive as walkers will be using it. Also how will any of the maintenance companies such as tree trimming etc. be able to work on our houses since they can't park on the side of the road.

Please remove the candles. They are a hazard. In the spring, summer and fall they collect debris. In the winter they collect snow. My kids end up walking in the road instead. It is much more dangerous than before. And it also makes our neighborhood less accessible for those in wheelchairs. 2930 n. Sheffield Court

The candles will be a problem in winter with plowing snow into walk area forcing walkers into the road, which is already a problem. 917 W Highlandview Dr. Bulbouts just force cars & bikes to have more chances of colliding.

I use a power wheelchair for mobility. Due to the candle stick placement , I am forced to be in the street when I need to get around. A permanent curb will make this situation worse.
