I support the removing of tables and chairs from the park. Though beautiful, this park has unfortunately become a dangerous spot.

I walk thru the park several times per week to get from my residence to my office at Liberty Plaza. I have observed this behavior.

Hi, this is Alex. I serve children with developmental disabilities, and I’m concerned about the homeless presence in the park. For the safety of the kids and families, we really need the area cleared and kept safe. Thank you for your help.

Perhaps the changes to the transit system will help alleviate the problems at the park, however, the unintended consequences listed in the petition are real. It is difficult to fathom how the City will be able to attract needed business activity downtown, and make visitors, especially families trying to enjoy the Kaleidium, comfortable given the continued negative conditions of the park. Perhaps, the park should be converted to a plaza so it may be traversed in a safe and inviting manner, allowing easy pedestrian traffic downtown.

I believe enough is enough and it's time for action specially since they have started assaulting the police who is only doing their jobs.

All they do is loiter and cause problems! I saw an officer get assaulted in the park yesterday. There needs to be something done about this!

Unwanted elements are gathering, creating problems for downtown shoppers. marijuana and drugs are commonly used. It is hard to walk in downtown Winston Salem.

This is a excellent first step to interrupt the current crisis that is only worsening by the week. However, longer term solutions need to be identified and adopted that preclude the problem returning once the furniture returns. And it should. We have one and two hour limits on DTWS parking spaces, but we have dozens of people literally parking in Merschel Park and monopolizing the facilities for 6 and 12 hours with loud obscene language, frequent fights and brazen drug transations keeping families and businessfolk from using it at all. Insane. It has to stop or downtown will return to the blight of the 90's. No thanks.

What is happening with the homeless people taking over Merchel Park is ridiculous!
Why can’t they police run these people out of there?!

I wish this wasn’t the case! We have front row seats to fights weekly in the park and it’s draining the police resources.

All that hang out there are harmless people and the police are constantly having to patrol the area because there are many people that are misusing the park and arrests are made.
Please. It disturbs everyone that passes.
