City has to figure out a way to place bike lanes WITHOUT taking up a car lane!

When a road like Bloor has subways that allow bikes, why are bike lanes required?

I am a regular bicycle commuter and agree with removing designated bike lanes on arterial roads. My heart sinks every time I see single lane of vehicles back to back including TTC for several blocks off of an intersection, and I am the only real bicycle(other than a few food delivery riders on electric bikes) on a bike lane on that stretch of road. What a terrible way to create congestion when people just want to get moving. I would much rather bike on quieter streets and have heard most cyclists feel the same. Besides what about winter when cyclists abandon their bikes? What a waste of money that the city doesn't have, to appease a small minority of vocal special interest group. Bright paint on the road would suffice; by the time the roads get covered with snow or ice and can't see the paint, you would'nt see any bikers braving the cold either.

With bike lanes, Bloor Street is a nightmare! They must be removed from major downtown arteries.

Considering the imbalanced ratio between cars/trucks/busses/emergency vehicles and bicycles, I can not comprehend the belief that adding huge bicycle lanes to busy residential streets was even a remotely sane thought, let alone ‘fix’. 5 bicycles (per hour) vs 3000+ motor vehicles moving in the same direction at the same time on any given residential roadway does not seem a logical ‘excuse’ to increase passage for cyclists …so far, this ‘fix’ has proven to strangle vehicles’ mobility…not to mention the obstruction of emergency vehicles…none has the ability to give right of way thus bringing traffic to a stand still. For safety and ‘’flow’, give the space back to vehicles…then perhaps open up a participation discussion to Torontonians about accommodating both. Whoever has been in charge so far, imo, has failed miserably.

Ridiculous. Single lane and Eglinton and Weston is insanity. Bloor street is a total mess. I use to shop on Bloor not anymore. I find Bike lanes are very difficult to navigate at traffic lights since you cannot move into the far right one bikes and scooters come flying up not obeying the rules.

All the posts etc separating the lanes from the street are so unsightly! Our beautiful streets are now visual eyesores!

The bike lanes are dangerous and don’t allow for emergency vehicles whatsoever. The main users are UBER eats

support this 100% Yonge Street needs to improve it's esthetics which are now deplorable and embarrassing. Yonge Street and Avenue Road need to be restored, reduce congestion and pollution. Make Streets Beautiful Again. Bike lines belong and should be installed on secondary roads like St. George and Beverley.

They are dangerous and have made the city impossible to drive in. Bikers follow no road rules and think nothing applies to them.

someone should be held accountable for the waste of taxpayer money to put those lanes in

Yes please remove the bike lanes which are not used by enough bikers to warrant the closure of our busiest and longest street in the city!!
