The Art Shop is an essential resource. We should not even be considering its closure whilst there are so many art based courses being provided.

The artshop has to stay open! Without this facility the design students will suffer!

I am shocked at the decision to try and close the art shop. When I was a student I frequently brought the materials I needed from here as it was not only convenient as it was just around the corner from the Graphics studio (the alternative would be to travel up to Hanley), very reasonably priced, and the staff were the most friendly and helpful people you could ask for. I feel sorry for the both the art shop staff and the current students at the Uni as they are being treated with no respect and this issue doesn't show off Staffordshire Uni in the best way.

How can University raise the fee to £9000 per year and not even provide something as obvious as art shop which is used by most students especially art related. With the data protection fail and a few others it really makes me think why this Uni is sometimes so unprofessional and doesn't have student's best interest in mind.

As a past student who recently graduated from Staffordshire University studying BA(Hons) 3D:Design, I am upmost disgusted at the thought never mind the consideration of closing the infamous art shop at Stoke campus. I and others alike will probably agree that the majority of my degree could not of been made possible if it was not for Jo and her fellow amazing staff that were always there to help you no matter what predicament you had with you that day. Whether it be deciding which thickness mount board to use and all the way along to getting your final draft assignment bounded quickly and professionally on deadline day. But one of the most treasured memories I keep from the art shop is the friendliness that was present each time you stepped in. Sometimes you could find yourself chatting away and not realising what you came in for. So what I do say here today is please wholeheartedly begging please DO NOT close the art shop. DON'T deny anyone the chance of achieving the best. And DONT stivle peoples creativity to 'save on funding' you sgould of thought about that before you dug up and relaid every single piece of slab in the university.

without the art shop it would be hard to imagine the kind of creativity that abounded at Stafford uni when I was there. Affordable and accessible at supplies are a must if you wish to keep the art faculty thriving
