Please preserve our beloved Payne Park. The city of Sarasota needs to preserve all of its green spaces for all its citizens and future generations to to enjoy; including the birdlife habitat which is thriving there.

IN PERPETUITY. After the orchestra will the City be putting housing or commercial space in? Here's an idea- tear down the gaudy, Taj Majal Ed Smith Stadium and give the orchestra that city owned property.

The pond is teeming with birds. It is peaceful and tranquil, my favorite place to paint. It is a terrible shame to lose any of this park.

Save Payne Park! I go there at least once a month to visit the cafe and their live music that my friends play. I've taken students there to the playground and thoroughly enjoy watching the wild life. We need this park for the enjoyment for everyone.

We run Payne Park every morning, and I grew up skateboarding at this park as a kid. There is wildlife here as well blooming and living on this land. It’s the city’s duty to provide and preserve parks for families and wildlife! I absolutely oppose any change to this park.

I believe in green space and wetlands! Are the subscribing members of Sarasota Symphony. Good management of cities preserves green spaces and wetlands! Bad management sells out to the highest bidder. Don’t let developers destroy parks for the public for the greed of the few.

We moved to the Sarasota area 13 years ago because it was NOT as developed as the east coast of Fl. The change we have seen is very demoralizing. Please leave green open spaces available for those of us who still appreciate it. That is what brings some sanity when we go out and listen to nature!!!

Once this proposal dies a well-deserved death, I believe the Orchestra’s board should focus its attention on finding a new CEO - one who realizes how outrageous it is to think beggars can be choosers. McKenna wants to build a $100 million complex, but can only find donors to support $70 million. His solution? Try and force the City, to donate the rest in the form of fre parking facility and irreplaceable public parkland. There is also no business plan Mckenna is willing to share that suggests SO can fill this hall - orchestras in much larger cities have gone bust by overbuilding. If that happens here, it is the taxpayers who will be left holding the bag for an enormous monument to McKenna’s ego.

Hands off OUR park! Renting, for a $1.00 a year, 3 acres of mostly concrete and asphalt does not mean SO is entitled to “trade” the subsidy taxpayers provide in that location for 7 acres of public parkland. The sheer entitlement of the orchestra’s leaders boggles the mind. If we are redefine the meaning of the word “park”, maybe we should redefine the meaning of “SO” to denote the intersection of privilege and arrogance.

The hospital just paid almost 11 million dollars to buy the Sarasota Herald Tribune building. Quality healthcare is certainly a public good, yet SMH never thought to ask for a public handout of land. Why on earth does the leadership of SO think it is entitled to one? The City Council needs to send the Orchestra a big fat reality check on Monday night.
