Payne Park under no circumstances should be a site for the Sarasota Orchestra. Geenspace can be enjoyed by everyone & this is a legally designated park. It is beyond obvious that the vast majority of those living in Sarasota do NOT want Payne Park to be sacrificed for the egos and use of a few. There is simply not a demand for orchestra by people near this location. NOT a best use of public land by any stretch of the imagination. If they want to do something innovative & legacy building, transform a failing space (Crossing at Siesta Key) that already has a concrete parking lot, high visibility from Tamiami Trail, restaurants that need customers, etc.

THANK YOU! I’m drafting an article I intend to submit as a guest editorial to the Tribune and would much appreciate your input. Please let me know if you are interested.. They are now claiming that they can MOVE the ponds, as though the ponds are furniture. Again, thank you for the effort and time you are giving this. God bless you, Suzanne stein

This park is my backyard and I would be devastated to lose the outdoor recreation space.

Leave the remaining green space alone. You have plenty of municipal space that should be used.

Preserve ALL of Sarasota's green space. It's already ridiculously limited.

The park is tiny - when viewed on a map or from the air. Development is occurring all around it - we need more space, not less. Less than 1% of the people who use the Park (or, frankly, of anyone in Sarasota) would buy season tickets for the Orchestra - and no on can walk there from DT, etc - Bayfront is still better or out of City. New tower resident at Bayfront might attend! But Nature and Sports lovers don't want to give up even 1 acre.

I daresay the Commissioners still have no principled rebuttal of the arguments I raised in this article on behalf of the Preserve Payne Park Coalition in May 2019.

As a home owner next to Payne Park, I am very displeased to read that Major Brody is reopening a case that never should have started in the first place. The land was gifted to the people of Sarasota as a recreational green space. We are not against the Orchestra, we are here to protect the wish and mission of something that impacted the city a long time ago. This park is for the people of Sarasota to stay healthy ans raise of children safely.

This park has granted with the explicit instruction that it is to remain only park space. This re-consideration compromises so many areas previously outlined, not to mention the real estate values of homes in and around the immediate are will decrease. The Orchestra needs to think out of the box and not inside Payne Parks box.

Please do not build the concert hall on the Payne Park Land. To lose the beautiful lake and lily pads and wildlife would be terrible. As usual, this is planning for the moment and not the future where there is no possible way to grow the performance hall. The traffic is already extremely congested.
