As a 206 driver it really is a “no brainer” to leave the existing taxi way in place unless or until other suitable changes are made!

The diagonal taxiway was the route of choice for return to the FBO ramp after landing during my 20 years of charter flying in McCall. Its use facilitates a counterclockwise taxi flow, for departing and arriving aircraft, that minimizes head-on traffic while avoiding sharp turns and hanger clutter. Decommissioning it makes no sense operationally or safety wise.

Unless the City is planning on changing the Airport Facility directory - that recommends land 34 and depart 16 - removing the diagonal taxi way would INCREASE the conflicting head-on traffic flow from landing airplanes exiting the runway with departing airplanes holding short at the runway end for takeoff, or airplanes taxiing on the parallel taxiway.
The parallel taxiway is not wide enough to pass airplanes.
Said yet another way...
The diagonal taxiway - (possibly a great idea at other airports) - allows dispersal of the traffic to minimize the conflicts of the landing traffic to exit the runway as soon as possible - to their hangar, FBO, or self-serve fuel island - WITHOUT conflicting with airplanes taxiing for takeoff or holding short of the departing end of the runway.
Common Sense would dictate - Let's not remove something, before it's IMPROVED replacement is in place - or we will go without for an underdetermined period of time with negative effects.

Since the McCall airport is an uncontrolled facility, safety is enhanced by being able to exit runway 34 quickly to allow departing aircraft on runway 16 to takeoff. It also helps avoid taxi conflicts for departures from 34.

Seriously. Delete before add? What are you thinking. I use the diagonal taxiway all the time. It makes for safer operation, getting planes off of the runway faster. Don't break what is not broken.

We need this diagonal taxiway to remain until there is a viable replacement. Removing this taxiway will create real safety issues.

Closing the diagonal taxiway would decrease safety and be a significant inconvenience to pilots. Please keep it open.

I fear that removing the diagonal taxiway will create safety issues and likely a congestion nightmare. I rent one of the north facing hangers along what the plans refer to as "Taxiway A", and with our C-182 on the ramp, it can already be difficult for another similar sized aircraft to pass on the taxiway, much less, anything larger. Aside from taxing aircraft and ramp conflict, there would also be increased conflict with vehicle, bike, pedestrian/ aircraft from people accessing hangers. There would also be potential for more conflict/ congestion if all aircraft start using the north end to exit and enter the runway from a single location. The McCall airport can be pretty busy on a summer day, and the diagonal taxiway helps keep it running smoothly. Please keep the diagonal taxiway..... or at least until there is a viable replacement.

Safety over profit! When we closed the diagonal last summer to support the USFS helicopters for only a few days we had too many close calls with larger planes trying to get to their hangars and even our single pistons getting around as it became too congested.

This is a bad idea and can create a dangerous situation. Aircraft will have to taxi instead on a narrow taxiway in front hangers and make a 90° turn on a blind corner. Larger aircraft may not even be able to do it. There are numerous issues that make it unsafe.
