I utilize MYL a great amount and would not like to loose this taxiway. I currently have a hangar in another airport where, because of its location, is used as a taxiway and run up area. It is damaging to my aircraft and items in my hangar. Areas in front of hangars are not taxiways. BTW yes I am moving my aircraft as soon as possible.

This taxiway has the highest use of any of the non-runway movement areas and transient aircraft use it to access the fuel pumps and FBO services. By closing this taxiway it will route traffic in front of the hangers in the N facing and front W facing rows and increase risk for all ground operations. Many large aircraft have wingspans that will encroach on hangar ramp space which could create a safety issue for both aircraft taxiing and aircraft in hangar ramp areas.

Safety should be the first priority. How do you intend to handle the busy summer traffic without it? Until you have solution that is workable for all who use the airport, no action should be taken.

The removal of the diagonal taxiway would create safety issues for taxing aircraft. This is a busy airport during the summer months and removing the diagonal taxiway would direct the flow of taxing aircraft into a 90 degree turn with poor visibility due to an existing large hangar. The diagonal taxiway should remain for the safety of all pilots using this airport.

The City is no doubt aware that most of the aircraft traffic movement at the McCall Airport occurs during the Summer months. Closure of the diagonal taxiway (regarless of whether temporary or permanently) will significantly increase ramp congestion and compromise airport operational safety.
It is my understanding that the City, at this time, does not plan to replace the diagonal taxiway being removed due to limitation of funding. This is a bad idea.

It will make for difficult and safety issues during the busy Summer season.

Removal would be a disaster. Especially during fire season.

In aviation the highest priority is safety and efficient aircraft movement. I think
the current plan to remove what is called the Diagonal Taxiway will seriously
affect those priorities. I don’t believe the recommendation fully takes into
account the adverse effect this will have especially during the busy Summer
months when the majority of the approximate 26,000 aircraft movements take
place. Removing the Diagonal Taxiway, without an immediate replacement,
should not be considered. The proposed temporary use of what is known as
Taxiway “A” has Three Safety Issues. First, that taxiway is primarily used for access
to hangars where people, aircraft and vehicles are present loading and unloading.
Second, the intersection of Taxiway “A” will require a hard 90 degree turn that is
a blind corner next to a large hangar. I think that presents another conflict with
other taxiing aircraft. Third, is the poor condition of the pavement including a
“asphalt cut” depression that has finally been marked with cones at my request to
the airport manager. The Diagonal Taxiway is crucial to the safe, efficient
movement of aircraft at the McCall Airport
