PhD is not superior to fellowship in anyway. Fellowship award is unique and superior to phD award.

This push by NUC / JOHESU should be completely rejected even if it means shotting down all the medical schools and let NUC employ PhD holders in clinical medicine.

It is inspiring for people to pursue other degrees but research training in residency programmes is an important component there also as diplomas are not awarded except dissertation is passed.

There is no doubt that Fellowship is more difficult, takes longer duration has wider scope and more impactful content. So PHD should only be an option for those who have the interest.
