It's shame we are discussing this topic today. Our elders crosses the bridge and burn the bridge. Now they have equated FWACS /FMCS to MSC as my FWACS &FMCS IN NEUROSURGERY=MSC NEUROSURGERY. MDCAN must take the lead, must stand firm. My suggestions 1. MDCAN should write a letter to NUC, NPMCN, MDCN, ALL UNIVERSITIES WITH COLLEGE OF MEDICINE and other relevant bodies of our outright rejection and a 90 day period to revert to status quo , and meet with curriculum team of MDCAN for proper placement of fellowship as postdoctoral program 2. Sponsor and lobby for NPMCN act to be amended giving it powers to award PHD and membership same time at part 1 level if so desirable by any medical doctor. 3 give an ultimatum of 90days of possible withdrawal of services by her members if no favorable response

With the level of academic and clinical knowledge and skills acquired from fellowship training, a Fellow is adequately prepared and properly positioned to ascend to the highest level of academic and clinical positions. That also includes headship of academic and clinical institutions.
