Petition to Offer Hybrid or In Person for Fall Semester Lodi

Definitely need at minimum a combination of virtual and in person. My primary kids do not do well with online!

Our children need to be back in school, not learning from a virtual format!

Save my sister in laws sanity and the kids need social interaction.

My son is a Junior at the high school.

Our kids Deserve the opportunity to go back to school. There are many school districts that are providing this option for their students like Poynette. The Waunakee school board admitted their mistake and reversed course and are now offering the in school option. Its time to show some true Leadership, something that we try to teach our children, instead of just following along with the masses. Our children deserve better!

After really sitting and listening to my 10 year old and realizing how much anxiety and sadness she has about starting school virtually, I’ve come to realize that we need to do more... I don’t support fully reopening but what about the hybrid model that was discussed? 2 days in school/2-3 days virtual? Do we need to be so extreme?

Any teacher that has concerns about teaching this year should be given the option to stay home and support the school any way they can. Our schools need to be open for the children who arrive hungry every day, or need a health environment away from home, a teacher or counselor to confide in, a teacher to teach, an environment with structure and support. These children should not be left behind. In these extraordinary times tough decision do not come easy but there always those who step up and do what’s best for the kids. If you are not comfortable sending you child it should be Ok to have them home school/virtual. Please understand this is not an option for many children because of their circumstances at home.

Let’s try a hybrid option. What do we have to lose at this point. We can always adjust our sails if needed. Children from single family homes are desperately needing the social, piece (as well as the emotional and mental) of education. Even more, the children that are developmentally behind socially; lacking some in-person will not only set them back from a social aspect but also from a developmental aspect.

Very much support kids getting back to school!!! They need to get Structure back.

Lodi is a beautiful and unique community. We are not a part of Madison and our proximity doesn't necessarily make us rural. We are a Hybrid. Our return to School Could be too. An approach that limits exposure while giving families a much needed level of in person support.

When I asked my daughter what she thought of the online school after the decision was made she responded " well I am not going to learn anything this year" This is from a straight A student all through school and taking AP classes as a freshman last year. The question you need to ask is " are we going to teach them in person or let them learn nothing at home?"

From my point of view, the board spent very little time thinking about how to make it work in the schools. They put a lot of time thinking of creative ways to get more money out of the parents for a new field at the high school. That worked out for the school. I guess they are just pushing their political views on the parents at the expense of the kids. Not impressed. 7-0 are you kidding me.

This is ridiculous, we need to consider the mental health of these kids as well as physical safety. My kids have been in summer care all summer with 50 other kids plus teachers and no masks to this point. Not one reported illness in staff or kids. Grocery store and gas stations are open with high school students working in contact with hundreds of people a day, yet they can’t go to school. What are we really doing? There is no way K-5th grade students are going to get a good education at home. And if we think they will, then give me back my tax money, I guess schools are not that necessary! I will keep them in day care! Because they won’t be at home during the day. Not sure what you think working parents are supposed to do with their young kids during the day!

Kids are already falling behind. They need a system that allows them to advance and excel. This has to happen in the classroom or via a live stream.

Let kids go to school!!

The online survey's from parents should have been the basis for the board members decision. I understand not all households will feel comfortable sending their children to in class learning, but that is a choice each household can make. When the decision was made unanimously to online learning only, it vetoed the majorities (per survey) right to make that choice. We have new facilities that our community members pay high taxes towards that need to be utilized. If a cashier at walmart can be in contact with 100's of DIFFERENT people from all walks of life each day, surely our teachers can be safely in contact with the same 20 kids. I have the utmost respect for, and have loved my children's teachers, but it's time to get back to normal.

I thought that by having the survey, parents opinions would have been considered in the decision. Most schools are going to the hybrid school. Why can't lodi? How many cases were confirmed in Lodi?
