The message boards are the only reason I use IMDb.

I was so surprised and sad to read that imdb is planning to shut down its message boards! As a long-time film fan, I love coming to the boards to read/discuss viewpoints after re-/watching movies. Despite the obvious trolls (which can simply be ignored, as everywhere on the web), it is the one place that any film can be discussed any time, across time and space! One can find out film/artist facts and ratings elsewhere, but the message boards are what is unique about imdb. I predict that the site will die a slow (or quick) death once they are removed :(

The message boards have been a vital complement to factual information on the imdb website. They much contributed to both my enjoyment and my understanding of the movies I watch.

i've been using imdb since its inception before the web came along. the data is nice, but the comments boards are essential. there's nothing else like them, and killing them will eliminate 99% of the usefulness of the site for me.

17 years of fascinating discourse lost in a heartbeat. In the only place with a message board for everyone to appear on screen however rare, no longer will I be able to find someone intriguing in a film and see what others have said about them, or watch a TV programme and see how others are reacting in more than 140 characters. As a top contributor for 14 years and a member for 17, this saddens me.

Eliminate the broken voting system instead. The message boards are much easier to ignore and great things are written on them all the time, nothing easier to just delete troll posts...

The IMDB message boards are an excellent outlet for analyzing movies, celebrities, TV shows and sharing knowledge about the said movies, celebrities and TV shows, as well as sharing ideas, news and theories. Everyone who uses the IMDB messageboards in a thoughtful, unbiased and respectful way should not have their rights to the message boards on IMDB get taken away all because of a bunch of internet trolls that abuse this message board. That's what the flag response button is for.

Active board user for 13 years and a follower long before that and the thought of losing the boards, just sickens me!

IMDB message boards have been my number one go to gauge the public's perception of any given movie. Please don't remove this great avenue for discussions, critiques, and recommendations

Best way to get the background information of the shows, people, movies etc.. I go to the boards more than other portions of the app. Need to keep or will find other source.

I've learned more about film on the IMDB message boards than anywhere else. If the boards are gone, I won't ever have a reason to visit IMDB ever again, because they will no longer be able to provide anything that Wikiledia can't. This is a terrible decision.

The boards are the only way I communicate in IMDb. Taking that away will silence my opinion and ability to communicate with other film lovers
