After watching a movie or finishing a season of a TV show I go to IMDB to see what others think about it. That will stop once the boards are gone.

Good point it will just be a bloated movie and TV advertisements site if they do away with the message boards

We only need 500 more signatures but I think getting weigh more than 10,000 will send a better message that IMDb is making a huge mistake by taking the community message boards away. They have to know they already have something in place to get rid of these people bye just hitting the remove button they are ignored forever I know it's just for the person that sees something they don't like but that's pretty good in my opinion. They're taking the easy way out and letting the trolls win by taking this important feature off of their site besides trolls are part of the internet sadly but there's all kinds of ways to stop them or stop them from posting or just don't read what they have to say why punish the people that use the boards for the reason why they are there. I hope IMDb reconsiders because they will definitely lose me going to their site as much as I do or at all because this really makes me mad that they would do away with this!

IMDb IS the message boards to me, and many others. Without it, IMDb is really just a bloated movie/tv advertisement. The moment they end the message boards, Wikipedia will immediately become the "go to" site for movie information. And also, the loss of years of comments by tens of thousands of message board users is a blow to Movie history... in one swoop, being erased, wiped out... not much different than the destruction of a museum or library. I hope IMDb changes their mind, when they realize what a bad mistake it is. If not, I will have no reason to visit the site in the future, and make it a point not to.

messageboards are what make the community work. this is my fav. place to come to see, learn, sometimes share when i've watched a movie. these boards are essential in helping to get a deeper understanding of a certain story. moving things over to other channels is breaking this important part of being able to dive deeply into a story. yes there are many unkind people around sometimes but the good experiences far outweigh the bad. there aren't many other places where a movie or a show is all you need to be able to communicate with others. imdb boards don't force you to sign up for a genre, they are special and vital for film lovers. yes i can sign up for whedonesque and yes i did. but it's only for whedon related things. it is so special to have a place where medium itself brings people together. please reconsider taking the boards offline or maybe implement using disqus so we can still discuss movies. twitter will never be able to give people the chance to read through year old meaningful chats, youtube changes it's commenting structure every other year it seems. the are no main threads to follow and tumblr is just reblogging visual mess. please restructure the boards if you have to but please keep them. a great fan of your website

The message boards are the primary reason I use the site. The theories, interpretation and most importantly, seeing if anyone has been talking about an obscure movie or series is around to start a conversation with are the real draw. Not the filmography, casting or actor bios. Those are available in a million other places.

The message boards have made me smarter and helped me to learn about life, not just from the films themselves, but from those who comment about them.

I've been a member since 2000. I use the boards for information and discussion constantly. I now feel stranded. Please reconsider...

The comment boards are a real resource of information. After watching a movie I come here to glean the little bits of information I may have missed or misinterpreted. I had wonderful discussions with so many people.
