Whenever I see a new movie, I come here to see what people are saying about it. Honestly, I am astounded that this decision has been made. End of an era, and why?

The primary reason I use IMDB is for the message boards. This is the best place to find out what people think about just about any movie at any time.

Please dont get rid of the boards! Theres no movie resource like it! Site traffic will tank without it

The ONLY place you can go for a specific film and see your questions asked and answered, theories and explanations for baffling things in films.
Who cares about trolls?
It's a necessary source of information.
Can't get that on their worthless Facebook page.
With no message boards I have ZERO use for IMDB.

The main reason I use IMDB is to check infor and see what people have said on the messageboards. I don't use Pinterest and Tumblr. Nor do I use Facebook. I won't be using IMDB much anymore.

Closing such popular and engaging forums is just whack. I don't post much, but I visit the forums a LOT to see other peoples opinions on a movie i want to see or have just seen. I won't be visiting imdb at all if they remove them

The only reason why IMDB is more attractive than Rotten Tomatoes is because of the boards. Beyond that there will be no reason for me to visit IMDB anymore.

I love the IMDb forums. The forums are the main reason I go to the webage. Facebook and twitter pale in comparison. My engagement with your other social media will be much much less. Please don't kill the forums.

Reading discussions in the message boards has always been valuable for me, whether it's deciding whether I want to see a movie or answering questions I had after seeing one. If people want to argue on the message boards, let them. It's pathetic to take them away from people for a superficial reason like this.

Too many sites have been closing their boards. They are an important means of sharing thoughts and ideas. Don't shut them down to appease the perpetually offended.

I love the IMDb message boards. It is where I go to read and learn about some of the lesser known tidbits from other movie and TV fans like myself, and I have been an IMDB member since the year 2000. I am frankly shocked that the many hundreds of thousands of rational voices on the site are being quieted simply because of the odd racist, misogynist, homophobic, trolling troublemakers that live among us. In the real world, not cyberspace, trolls would either not dare be trolls, or they would certainly run themselves into trouble with those of us who remain sane -- and in cybespace, we rational people have learned how to effectively monitor/block/ignore/laugh at them on our own. I don't agree that the IMDb needs to shield us from any of that -- we know what we might read every time we sign on, and should be granted that choice. I really wish we would be trusted to take care of ourselves.
