The IMDB Messageboards are my first port of call whenever I watch a film and have questions regarding any unresolved storylines, weird things I noticed in the background etc I like the trivia section too, but the messageboards are IMDBs USP and I doubt I'll be visiting the site as frequently if they go.

Don't get rid of the boards but update them with a system (like downvoting troll threads) so that they CAN be useful

While I do not post on the messages boards I have always used them to get more information and insight to movies and tv shows. That is the main reason I used IMDB. I have been binge watching a few shows for the last couple of weeks and I can recount many times I have come to the message boards to see what others think. While I can agree there is a troll problem, which happens on all forms of social media,, I believe closing the boards will do more harm to the sites traffic than good.

IMDB has a great message board and keeps us up to date on what is going on. We can discuss movies and tv shows.

Keep the forums going, you can't chat in depth on social media accounts. Social media is everything which is wrong with our society.

What was the real reason for killing the boards? Cost cutting? Trimming a few jobs? Just plain stingy?

The Message boards are one of the best things about IMDB. It's where I come to seek info from other people who enjoy movies and TV shows. We discuss theories about shows and movies. It's been awesome and will be greatly missed. Once they are gone there won't be much point in coming to IMDB. Please keep the message boards.

One of the few escapes I have when I get a chance is reading IMDB message boards. If I watch a new movie or rewatch an old favorite, I'm always inclined to come back and talk about the movie. It would be a huge loss to have this taken away.

Not everyone is about social media. These message boards provide a positive place for people who can compose more than just a tweet to discuss films.

The IMDB message board is holds very usueful insider information, as well as different point of views of movie endings or storylines etc. There are black sheep everywhere, don't kill something that's actually fun and makes people interact with with each other.

The boards is the main reason I use IMDb. Maybe blockbuster boards are infested with trolls, for plenty of less known movies the boards have at times been very helpful at understanding or interpreting a movie.

Sure, there are some trolls. But most of us just want to discuss or find information about a film or star. This will be a terrible loss.
