Petition to keep the IMDB messageboards going

Please allow comments that DO help Whilst many are negative.. we tend to ignore those fools.. (trolls...)

Please don't close the boards, they are an important part of IMDb and without them it just won't be the same! I know I haven't posted anything there in a long time but I read the boards regularly. I often check them before or after watching a movie to see other users' opinions. I know there are trolls but I just ignore them. To me the boards are really important as a source for more information on the movies and the actors in them. Without them my future visits to imdb.com will surely be a lot shorter and most likely also happen less often. Please leave the message boards be!

How else will we be able to analyze a movie fully without the message boards? The message boards have so many amazing opinions and discussions about film that you could never get anywhere else. People delve into symbolism, similar films, ending interpretation, etc. After each film, I religiously go to IMDb to see others opinions and thoughts and Everyone I know does the same. That great feeling you get after finishing a film and knowing you have a little place to share your thoughts and read other people's thoughts on the same film you had the pleasure of experiencing. We need more positive outlets like the IMDb message board and less mind draining outlets such as fb and Twitter and snapchat. Please keep the message boards!

I love to read the boards

For vast majority of all movie/show fans probably best part of a movie experience is engaging in a conversation about them. No matter where! Engaging a discussion about a movie in a website is not only writing but mostly reading. IMDb will probably continue to remain a very important source for many of us regardless the boards are shut down or not. And for many of us the frequency we go to IMDb will sure decrease significantly after the boards are gone. It is an inevitable fact because probably IMDb management underestimates the importance of the boards for users. Boards are probably one of the few main direct and indirect reasons for the traffic to the website. Cutting down one of the main interest points will cause a chain reaction activity lost. This decision will be reversed sooner or later. Because it isn't very realistic to believe it won't hurt the traffic and indirectly revenue of the website in important numbers. The question is this will happen after how many users lost for good. IMDb likely will see the gradually growing impact on their traffic clearly after a while, as well as how many very long time members are less frequent in the website. Keeping a user for a long time is connected to the points important to him/her.

Save the message board

I never comment on the forums, but I constantly go there after seeing movies to see if others agree or disagree with my opinion of the movie. So much useful user info.

Don't delete an important part of my film history and the first place I visit after watching a film and want to read people's opinions, views and theories.

It is not fair to close the message boards just because your paid monthly subscribers don't use them. Be grateful you even have paid subscribers. They make up a whole 1% of your user base. For the other 99% who instead spend their money going to see the movies that they hear about on IMDB, removing the message boards means removing the very passion that makes IMDB. Removing messages boards will be the death of IMDB.

I LOVE the IMDB boards, even though I don't always love the trolling/insulting aspect. I will miss the boards, nevertheless, as they definitely help me decide on whether to watch a film or not.

I can see other sites have info on upcoming movies, I did go to yours, but now that you have decided to take down the message boards, I sadly have no reason to return. I believe this action stems from "celebrities" who cannot handle when their performance or "activism" is called into questions. the world is just to political now, but instead of keeping to acting, directing or what ever, the celebs want to spout off, yet none welcome the repercussions. So you cave, and you will lose money on this, sorry to say

There will be very little reason to visit the site without the message boards. By eliminating the discussion forums, the bad guys win.

The boards need to stay they are a integral part of the site.

IMDB message boards attracted me years ago to set up a profile and post with abandon back in 2005. There is really no other site that compares with this one when it comes to active message boards for all movies/actors/etc. migrating over to facebook or some other place isn't an option for me. IMDB is a valuable resource and if we need questions answered about movies or vice versa this is the place to do it! KEEP THE IMDB MESSAGE BOARDS INTACT,

Please keep the boards. Otherwise I'm going to create my own site and steal all your users.

Been an IMDb user since the beginning. Have plenty of comments on there. Enjoy reading the comments, regardless of trolling.

It would be giving in to the trolls to delete the message boards. Many of us depend on them to find information about films we can't find anywhere else.
