Petition to keep the IMDB messageboards going

I *only* use IMDb for reading the individual discussions of the movies that I am watching. If you remove the message boards, I (and many others) will then have no use for the website and be forced to no longer use IMDb. Not only that, but then other companies will quickly step up to create a similar movie database but *with* message boards, and actually give the majority of people what they want... thus resulting in IMDb becoming obsolete. Please reconsider and choose to *not* remove the message boards... both for the sake of the users' satisfaction, and for the relevancy of IMDb. Thank you.

I don't write, but I read message board comments on every movie that I'm passionate, or curious, or bewildered about. It will be sad if they fall as a victim in the clash between political correctness and trumpism. Just keep them - in 3-4 years it may seem a more valiant decision.

To me, the message boards are what made IMDb special. Regardless of what other info the site provides, the one place to go for detailed information on the movie, interesting opinions and fun discussion that you notice are prevalent when you just ignore the trolls, and even some news that you haven't heard elsewhere (even from IMDb) yet about a movie! The pros of the boards completely outweigh the cons. When I search a movie on IMDb, I usually just scroll right down to the message boards to look. That's how much the message boards REALLY means to a lot of people when it comes to the worth of IMDb. Furthermore, plenty of people who don't even really participate in usage of the boards still read through them for information. Nothing anywhere else on the site is as detailed and helpful as the message boards! Who cares if just you have to scroll past a few troll threads to get those benefits?

I can't imagine imdb without the boards, they're what makes dissecting a movie fun and interesting. I love reading others' takes on movies and there's no other way to do it constructively than here! Don't get rid of it! We need it!

We can use IMDb message boards to talk about our TV movie with a small following.

Please keep IMDB message boards. They are a unique and creative set of forums where people all over the world can come together to discuss and critique all kinds of films. Without it IMDB wouldn't serve many other functions, since movie facts and trivia (which is what IMDB would mostly consist of without the message boards) can be found in many other sites. The positives far outweighs the negatives of the boards.

The best feature of IMDb is the message board, period. I use it all the time. Without this feature I will has no use for this website and simply have to delete it. The message board is easy to navigate unlike the "Facebook" page you recommended as a replacement. This just reminds me of all the actors that left a popular series to move on to what they think is bigger and better only to find out that they are out of work. Or, in this case no visitors to their website because so many have left because their favorite aspect is now gone. It is sad that it comes down to money and that a great venue for dialogue for the arts will be ending.

I've been using IMDB for over ten years. Don't really care about things like this too much as it is kinda funny how people get too emotional about a message board, but this truly was the main reason IMDB had any purpose. To be able to discuss movies with others. Sometimes constructively, sometimes (or maybe often) less so, but such is life. I'd hate to see this feature go away.

Please keep it, there are many idiotic comments but nuggets of truth are contained within.

The boards have more than 10 years of history relating to commentary and analysis of movies. They are a wonderful resource, and require almost nothing to keep running. Please do not dismantle your message boards!

IMDb message boards are one of the biggest (if not the biggest) reasons I frequent the site. HUGE MISTAKE if they are done away with!

I just found out and am shocked and stunned,.. astounded really, that IMDB is pursuing this ill advised course of action. Rescind this decision! There is NO SUBSTITUTE for the IMDB boards anywhere! Recognize the human value of all the input over the last 20 or so years. IMDB has a moral obligation to curate this treasure, not cast it aside like a used napkin. Even freezing it in amber and closing to additional comments would make more sense, but not much more. Not everyone is a short attention span social media fly.

Message boards often provide more information on the subject than the trivia section. Very disappointed to learn it is going away. May have to rethink where I will go to find information in the future.
