Petition to keep the IMDB messageboards going

The biggest trolls at IMDB are the staff!

I realize there is a lot of negativity on the boards but I've learned to ignore it and find proper discussions about the films and shows I love. I discovered a lot of great threads in there. The site will not be the same for me

I would hate to see these boards go down. They are a great source of information and community.

I don't know about everybody else, but I use the IMDB message boards to see what popular opinion is on various movies/tv shows is, to determine the worth of investing my time in watching them. I will NEVER frequent a Facebook or Twitter page for IMDB, because they're both just general "catch all" pages that don't drill down to specific movies and TV shows, and are thus worthless for the main reason most of us use the message boards. If the message boards are shuttered, you might as well shutter IMDB as well, at least the free user portion of it; it'll basically be worthless to us at this point. There are PLENTY of other sites available to read synopses of TV shows and movies; your site was unique, as far as I can see, in that you allowed your users to discuss, in depth, any TV show or movie we wanted, with a page devoted to solely that show. Don't take this wonderful community away from us.

Just another example of punishing EVERYONE because SOME people don't know how to behave themselves. That's what the IGNORE button is for.

Imdb message boards is being shut down just a few weeks after Trump took the oath of office. A coincidence?

Far less reason to use IMDb at all with no message boards.

My ritual for at least 15 years has been running to the IMDB forums after watching a movie to get other people's perspective. The boards is what makes IMDB great.

I've always found the Boards a useful reference point to investigate other people's thoughts and reactions to a film I've just seen. As regards the trolling, I soon learnt to ignore this - it didn't adversely affect my user experience.

Check user comments before watching films - really helpful and thought provoking. . Just downloaded the app mainly for this reason . Jan

Last ditched attempt to the BOSS of IMDb. Please think again before closing these boards. People who critique these films will have nowhere to go and view comments. Those who want to go and view a film to see if it’s any good will have nowhere to view their comments. Also, its tragic to think you are breaking up all these communities for the sake of on-line damned trolls those whom spoil it for most us who love it here. Breaking up those communities is awful friends are splintering away trying to find a new home, and you've made us homeless. For a lot of us its our only home and will struggle to find an alternative where we felt comfortable and safe. I frequent the Supernatural 2005 board and I don’t look anywhere else for spoils or news as I find it ALL in one place. This is one reason why many of us are annoyed. Many other sites don’t have the regular activity on it that IDMb does, and we are a very close community. To break us up I cannot bear to think about the long lasting damage this will do to those who have been there for years. PLEASE, PLEASE don't close the boards!! PLEASE, PLEASE don't close the boards!!

I rely on the comments to discuss old movies as well as new movies, current isn't always the best, it's good to find people open to discussions and theories whilst also discussing casting, character development and story lines in one place without being lost in a crowd of mixed posts!

By shutting down these boards, you're take away a vital section of your site. I'm sure I'm not alone when I peek at the boards after every movie I watch, just to see what others thought of it. Imdb is the biggest media index on the internet, and these boards have so much potential. Instead of shutting it down, its time to revamp it. Equipped with a fresh look, some mods, and a message rating system, it can flourish.
