I'll be honest - I'm no film buff. I can't claim I watch threads for the classic debates! But I love them for the "lesser" debates, such as whether Michael is the worst Bluth or if James Nguyen know what he was doing. My friends have very different tastes to me but I come to an imdb board and see people around the world watching the exact same crud I am (shoutout to daffodil-stuff).. it's comforting and encouraging! And it keeps me motivated to keep chatting away to people around the world, which surely is more important than ever right now

Please keep the IMDB message boards active. Facebook and Twitter are not adequate substitutes for message boards; they have ruined the Internet when it comes to meaningful discussion. I am saddened by contacts who, lured by the siren song of social media, have eschewed the intellectual discussion that takes place on message boards for narcissistic broadcasting on social media. Nevertheless, many still depend on message boards as meaningful outlets for intellectual discussion. Please keep IMDB message boards alive.

The message boards are the only thing keeping IMDb unique. There is absolutely no interaction related to specific films on its social media pages - don't delude yourselves, and don't lie.

There is trolling and nastiness for sure, but there is also dialogue and exchange and just a great source of information. There are true communities that emerge from the imdb boards, it'd be a shame to put an end to that - and this is coming from a longtime lurker.

I strongly believe that having a message board for both tv and movies, in spite of some so-called trollers, has far more benefits than not. It would be VERY SAD to see the IMDb message boards disappear!!

Please keep the message boards. Don't let the trolls shut down an internet icons greatest section. I have been using IMDB for many years. And during those years the message boards have become my favorite section. A great way to discuss something I may have questioned about a show or movie. And movies/shows that are left open to interpretation are very fun to discuss with others. PLEASE KEEP THE MESSAGE BOARDS!!!!!!!!!

Wow, I'm just seeing this today. This is horrible. After a mini stroke, it sometimes takes me a bit to understand some films and I RELY on the message board to listen to all of the varied opinions. So sad that IMDB didn't REALLY think this through.... Please hear our voices!

The message boards are the best place to discuss films and exchange points of view, theories, opinions and more. By shutting them, film lovers are going to lose a great space. Plus, IMDB is very likely to lose users.

Dear Sir, Please let the boads on. Sometimes it's very nice and helpful to find out something that isn't explained in the movie or in your site. Specially if it is a documentary film about subject that is not familiar to everyone. I really liked that. Or just to see how other people feel about the movie. Sincerely, Brana

The message boards are the number two reason I go to IMDb, after the cast & crew listings. But wait ... upon reflection I realize I almost always head to the message board for a cast member or writer or director that I am looking at to find out more - so maybe the message boards are the number one reason. I have learned so much from the message boards over the years and I am very sad to think of a world without them. It is yet to be seen if IMDb will continue to be a top-tier site for me.

As an avid user of Imdb, I am devastated that these forums will no longer be in use. This is my one-stop-shop for everything film and the forums play a major part in this. Please reconsider.

The boards are one of the biggest reasons that I visit imdb - even if I don't actually post in them, I love to browse through them. Eliminating the boards will severely reduce, if not eliminate my use of the site.

There's no place like this place. The IMDb boards are the only place to go for discussion of older movies. If the site owner is worried about trolls, there are probably apps for that, like disabling multiple accounts, or requiring users' real names.
