Stupidest & Saddest business decision ever made to date by IMDB, is ending the Message Boards. "Burning" this Great Library will recoil in burning your own house down, alas. The main, & for some, the only reason to get on IMDB are for those Message Boards. Interpretation of Media Arts just stepped back into the darkest of ages, in a land where "free speech" is clearly no longer prized... Shame is upon you, IMDB.... You didn't even ask/request alternate means to retain this vast Sum of Knowledge, just posted a notice and expected people not to care. Yet We Care. For some, it is the database for in-depth research that makes for true education in the modern Media Art world. Discussing the Great Ideas brought to the Fore in the medium of Film is what makes minds gain the growth called Learning, and is of tremendous value, yea, irreplaceable value. ~That discussion of Ideas is a part of what makes us Civilized.~ Yet, You, IMDB Elite Decision-Makers, now take the next step for all of us into our descent of becoming more and more: *Technological Barbarians.* Yep. Overturn Your Decision; Take the Heat and Confess Where You’re Wrong, and We All will Praise you for it in the end. Do it not, and this travesty will be on your heads throughout history. Clif

I often check imdb after watching a movie, going directly to the message boards. I enjoy seeing other people's opinions and learning of nuances I may have missed. Facebook and Twitter is no substitute for this. There is just too much chatter about everything mixed together to be of much use. The message boards on imdb are ORGANIZED. Please don't shut it down. It will cripple imdb. I predict a major loss of web traffic to the site.

There must be other ways to remove trolls from the messageboards, other than removing all messageboards on IMDB.

Please do not shut down the message boards. While there are some negative experiences and a number of trolls, I have had much more happy memories than bad. Please reconsider your decision.

I vote to keep. I use the message boards. Please consider all the history you will be deleting.

I've never posted in the forums, but I've used them thousands of times to read others comments. So I may not be counted as part of the "small" community. If people who just read the posts are not counted, you will be losing millions of visitors to your site. There is no other reason to use the site.

I love the boards. I use them every time I watch a movie on Netflix or Amazon. I wouldn't even know how to find a movie chat on FB.

There's just nowhere else on the internet to talk about any old, obscure film you want to. The IMDb message boards are the only place you can have a discussion with the handful of people in the world who are interested in a particular niche film, even if it takes ten years. Every little movie has its own forum. It's a unique feature and too valuable to just shut down. Please, please reconsider!

whoever had this idea is completely clueless, if they honestly think that FB or twitter are in any way comparable to what the message boards provide. if there isn't a change of plan, I won't use IMDB any longer, as I can get anything else they provide elsewhere, and I won't support a site that is that utterly tone-deaf to what it's users want.

Some of us oldsters don't have friends who go to the movies. It was very comforting to come to the IMDb message boards to talk movies with like minded folks. Trolls were ignored. Please reconsider your decision.
