This is a dark dark day in internet history
Something that supports free speech, educates the public, and help and entertains a worldwide audience should not be taken for granted. This wasone of the best things on the internet. I'm deeply sadden by its removal. Please bring it back.

The only reason why I continued to use this site after so many years, was the message boards.
I wasn't even aware they were going to be closed, until I logged in today.

This is without doubt the most stupid thing I have heard in a long time. However made this decision needs to be sacked.

For over ten years I have used the Imdb message boards. It was the only online forum that I used. I'm upset that all of those posts, all of those discussions are lost. For serious film lovers, the message boards were an invaluable resource for meeting others with similar taste or with obscure film knowledge. Without this feature I see no use in Imdb for me.

I don't want the message boards to go. They are the main attraction of IMDB. Can't see much of a reason to use IMDB without the message boards

I go to imdb to find info and opinions on the message boards more than 75% of the time- only a small part of my visit is actually looking for general info. If the message boards aren't there, I will be visiting far less than I have been. You would have been better off finding a way to get more mods to deal with trolls than shutting the whole thing down. Bad decision.

like many others, I have formed a habbit of checking the message board of a movie that I just watched. for a good 30minutes or so. I read all the trivia section for films that I really like. and check other's opinions on films I have yet to see. please find another way to battle a few spoiled eggs that ruins the whole pot. shutting down the message board alltogether is a stupid move. why punish millions for the crime of a few individuals?

I read the blogs after every movie I watch to get more info on the movie. Plus I get advice on the movie.

Like many others, I have enjoyed checking the message board after watching just about every movie. I will miss the discussions and I hope that IMDB will reconsider this decision.

I go to check the imdb message boards after every movie i see, to get a reading on what others thought of the film. This is a major loss for the filmgoing community

The IMDb message boards have long been my "go to" place when I want to see what other people are saying about a movie or show. They are a top reason I even use IMDb in the first place.

It is not hyperbole to suggest that the sheer quantity of irreplaceable knowledge destroyed in removing the IMDb Message Boards is comparable to the loss of knowledge occasioned by the destruction of the ancient Library of Alexandria.

Without the forums where are we supposed to discuss movies, especially obscure unknown films? Don't let the trolls beat us, I think simply hiring more volunteer moderators could be a solution to this. This seems like the end of an era.

It just seems barren and weak now.

While imperfect, the message boards were central to the value of IMDb and highly valued by me as a movie lover. The site has been rendered barren and lifeless without them. The boards have "failed" because of a lack of effort on the part of Amazon, where everything is measured in dollars and cents. SHAME.

Really wish the boards could come back. That's the only thing I used IMDB for. If I ever wanted to elaborate on a movie question or just share details about a film I liked, fan theories or stuff about the cast or story, I always used IMDB. It was a growing community of movie fans and had a lot more interesting discussions on each movie, versus most other websites, and I liked their format. Very sad :(

Sad to say, I think the message boards have even been deleted early...
