I used the message boards for information about a film I might not want to see ... about scene which I would find repugnant. The viewers always came through. I miss the boards and hope they are reinstated otherwise, why bother even getting on the imdb website.

Watching a movie just isn't the same without being able to go to the IMDb messageboards afterwards.
Being able to read fan theorys or even just breakdowns of the story was a big part for me in enjoying certain movies.

Take away the message boards, and I will no longer have a reason to visit the site. Until now, I knew I could always count on the boards if I needed a question answered or an opinion given by my fellow filmgoers. Make it a paid feature to shut out the trolls; don't try to solve the problem by wiping sixteen years of accumulated knowledge out of existence.

IMDb should've made their boards read-only so all was not lost. Luckily, http://moviechat.org has archived our posts and boards so we can use them again.
