At least leave them up with no further postings. Delete any truly offensive posts but leave what is already there as an archive. Please.

I've been using IMDB since I was 13... I'm 26 now. The message board was one of the best features about this website because it gave you the chance to see what other people thought about the movie, the acting, the fan theories and so much more. Every time I finish watching a movie, the next thing I do is jump on to IMDB's message board to see what people thought or to look for an explanation to a plot twist or concept that I didn't understand. Removing the message board feels like a slap in the face to the people who have been around just as long as I've been and to the online community who made IMDB what they are today... So disappointed right now.

This its just sad. IMDB Message Boards were for me one of the most appealing part of the all site and the place were I spent the most time. They are just finishing killing the community and making the business take over for good. I use this site for 10 years now... I which Amozon never had bought it.

I originally thought it was just me that couldn't locate the boards on the app on my new phone, but I was saddened to hear the boards were closed. I found them great for discussion and yes people post silly things and hurtful things but the community on there was great, constantly warning others and being decent human beings! I am sorely missing the boards, it's hard to not have a group of wools to discuss in dept details that i observed (or missed) in my most recent tv binge show, I miss the trivia, the recommendations and mostly I miss the people I've connected with.

Oh well. If IMDB says a movie is a 9 then its a 9. No way to discuss this with others so I won't question it in any way... oh wait, yes there is! BYE, IMDB!

Yes, there are far more serious things to worry about, but this decision by imdb deeply troubles me all the same. While I was never a super-heavy poster on the boards, I absolutely turned to the boards on a regular basis. Of course I make my own decisions on films but I still found it invaluably useful to read unsolicited, often dissenting comments on films. Moreover, I cannot quantify exactly how much I have learned from other users on the boards over the years - needless to say it was incredibly significant.
Yes, its 2017. Yes, the imdb boards were an archaic anachronism. Yes, the imdb boards certainly had its share of trolls.
But I'd bet the fact of the matter is that for a hugely significant number of users, the boards were a vital part of the imdb experience.
Brick and mortar libraries are also arguably archaic anachronisms in our modern age...should they also be shut down wholesale?
imdb, upgrade your infrastructure. Hell, I would even gladly pay reasonable fees for a premium-level access to message boards on imdb. With that in mind, given the character and nature of trolls themselves, how many of those clowns do you actually think would pay real money just to spew their vitriol on a premium-level portion of imdb?
Its 2017. I know you have archives of the boards. Its not too late to reconsider...

If trolling was the real reason which i doubt, they should control the user accounts by switching to Facebook or Google login but not just shutting down the whole experience!

The comments were the primary reason that I would come to imdb.com first... It would be unwise to remove this feature...
