I loved looking at fan speculation on the message boards...how does such focused theorising of a particular series/actor/film somehow move to social media?

IMDB's main content is nothing compared to the information we can gather on its forum, just by entering it and looking around. Now it's all gone and unaccessible.

Without the massage boards there is little reason to visit the website

IMDbis far more important, than being simply a source for info. It is a place for us to interact.

I'm shocked that the powers that be at IMDb took this step. VERY bad move, please reconsider!!

The boards were the perfect place to get answers to the questions that you may have had after seeing a film. I specifically remember some great discussions about Oblivion. Deleting all that information is disrespectful to all those who contributed.

Where else do I go to find the answers to questions people have already asked. Not the trivia or fun facts but the oddball questions that pop up while watching the film.

I only went to IMDb to read the message boards on the show/movie I just watched.... so I guess I won't be visiting imdb anymore?

If IMDb won't value their message boards, its users will. One such has thoughtfully backed up the boards for us to use. If you're looking to continue where your convos left of, you'll find them in moviechat.org where our threads have been archived. It's better than the nothing IMDb left us with.

Please bring back the message boards. I do not go on social media, the message boards were the perfect way to communicate with other film and tv viewers. It is a crazy idea to discontinue this service. Please reconsider.

Wont use the site without the board. 90% of fun and interactions comes from there

The message boards are a large part of why I regularly visit IMDB. I'm not interested in the latest movies so the fb page has no interest for me. I have constantly found discussions for older movies, especially obscure ones, to be of more use than the reviews. They are often a repository of interesting discussions and information about the movie, background information and comparisons to, for example, a book the movie was based on. Wikipedia is now going to be a better source for this than IMDB.

loved checking out message boards after watching movies to see what others were saying about, the trolls weren't that bad and they were easy to ignore

Bad idea to just arbitrarily dump the boards. Someone has a huge ego and went on a power trip. Restore the boards.

Your message boards were the only place to easily connect with other people who are interested in the same obscure movie or tv show. The only place where I could easily find answers to questions or share comments. The boards narrowed my search down to like minded people. Give your users some credit. Trolls are everywhere, they are here to stay and we know how to deal with them.
