This is the dumbest and by far the stupidest excuse I have ever heard.
There has to be a reason, other than the lame ones that have been provided by IMDB. Was there not enough money in it for gazillionaire Jeff Bezos? It was a drop in the bucket. It's just an attempt to block free speech, another forum to bite the dust. What's next?
I will boycott Amazon, and IMDB. I will purchase locally or off of Ebay. I hope it hits you where it hurts. The pocket.

Please restore message boards. They make iMDB, well "iMDB". What is the point otherwise? We can go to some other critic sites if we just need to know the ratings

Quite annoying that you have decided for me that the discussion boards did not 'provide a positive and useful experience'. I am capable of making up my own mind, and I found them incredibly useful. After every movie I watched I would read the discussion boards (and simply skip over the silly trolls, quite easy to do, takes a second) for days. I now have no real reason to use your website. I would urge you to reconsider. Many film fans found them extremely valuable resources for information no matter how obscure the film.

It's wrong to let the minority spoil it for the majority. Although I have continued to use IMDB it is much less often as I am sure will be the case for many people.

I was a daily visitor to the sight visiting the message boards among other areas now I don't even open the app as the site has lost all purpose to me.

The only reason I actually had a account and rated 400+ titles was for the discussion board. It was the only place I know to discuss a particular movie.
The boards were a place to learn more about your movie or show, and also to meet others. Sometimes you see someone that has similar taste, then you click on their profile and look at their movie ratings. It gives me ideas of what I might want to watch.
Yeah i know there were trolls and such, but even at the end they were the minority. In the age of the internet you just accept that and ignore then.
Without any real community or reason to goto IMDB other then movie info; it seems to me the user ratings will also decline. Where you only get people that really love or really hate the movie voting it. Good job IMDB you just killed your site.

I have not been back to IMDB since this "book burning" this knowledge base destruction. What IMDB did is a sin. The posts and great information were not created by them, it was not theirs to destroy. But destroy they did. It is sickening. I also have not bought anything from AMAZON since this disaster. AND THE WORST PART!! I no longer trust ANY place on line to bother typing information. Who cares? It could all deleted tomorrow. IMDB MADE THE WORLD A WORSE PLACE! ...anyway... I was just going to look up a movie factoid, and it reminded of this ridiculousness and though tI would vent a little. Now I will go look somehwere anywhere else... but NEVER AGAIN WILL I LOOK AT IMDB FOR ANYTHING!!!!

With all the silliness and trolling, IMdB offered movie fans such a wealth of good conversation and insights about favorite films. Please reconsider, and add some filters for obvious trolls/disrupters/rudeness

I can't believe they have actually done this. What was the harm in keeping it? The only reason i used imdb were these boards, and i really miss them.. i used to visit them after i would watch a movie very often. I'm so angry at them, i really can't come to terms with it being gone i really loved it

Having a hard time imagining the meeting wherein this was decided. Did anyone think of making the boards a paid service? It'd keep out the riff-raff and make IMDB some $: Win-win. But just yanking them? Uncool. Very uncool. And unprofessional.
