Message boards were one of the greatest things about imdb. Will not be using imdb much anymore!

Although I mainly used IMDB for looking up information, ratings, and reviews of movies, I would still often take a gander at the message boards for shows I enjoy, and occasionally post as well, in somewhat meaningful conversations about stuff I like. However, that is simply not possible anymore. If I had a question about a show or movie, I would ask it in the forums, but now I may as well just Google it; your site is far, far less useful without message boards. A real shame, really, because you had the market share, but I think you will find out in the next few quarters that that share is dwindling hard. Good luck.

Whenever I come across and actor who gets my attention, even if it's an old movie or TV show, I always check the comments on the IMDb messageboards for comments about the actor; it can be a great source of information that isn't available anywhere else. Sometimes, it's the only place to get information about actors who had short careers or otherwise aren't well-known.

Many, responsible imdb members have been on these boards for more than a decade. Please, keep the boards. Charge an annual fee, PER account, $25 if you must (to keep the mono-syllabic, mouth breathing savages at bay). Thank you.

The message board is the main reason why I open IMDB, to read the discussion about the movie, theories, explanation, interpretation. It is what makes IMDB great. Otherwise it is no better than other sites.
Clearing trolls by closing the board is OVERKILL

I've been an IMDb member since 1999 and a message board poster since 2005. I've always enjoyed coming back to engage in conversation with fellow film fans. ESPN and Yahoo! once eliminated their message boards, but eventually brought them back. IMDb, please do the same.

I used the boards often after viewing a movie to see prior discussions and to add my questions and points of view I have no use for the boad now execpt to find out the name of an actor in a movie but I can find that anywhere on google, the disccussions, not so much.

Have had this app for years and always enjoyed it up until recently. Taking away the message boards was a big mistake. With any social media platform there will always be trolls. Maybe instead of ruining for everyone else have a better policy and disclaimer that those who abuse the system will be removed and blocked.

Ridiculous decision to shut the boards down. I agree with many others that the messageboards were outdated and poorly moderated., but they were such a huge (and oftentimes) useful part of IMDB.
It's obvious that they would rather save a buck than bother with forum upgrades or proper moderation, shameful.
I hope this business decision bites them hard, and they either reverse the decision or something like http://imdb2.freeforums.net, https://moviechat.org, or https://www.themoviedb.org replaces them altogether.
