At a time when more discussion - not less - is needed, it makes no sense to take away a service that is used by a not insignificant population. Even if 1 million out of 250 million use it, 1 MILLION is a large number that should not be alienated. Anything else offered by this site (cast info, reviews, etc.), I can find elsewhere. How much could it possibly cost to keep a message board going? And couldn't IMDb even keep just ONE or TWO message boards going and not wipe out the whole system?

I use IMDb almost exclusively for the messageboards. It really is the best place to discuss a wide variety of film. Please don't take that way.

the IMDb forums are a unique venue for film discussion that isn't satisfactorily replicated with the other social media arms. losing them would be a sort of tragedy.

If trolling IS the issue, shut down the offending boards (Soapbox, Politics etc...) and weed out the bad eggs on the good boards...Don't punish long time users for other's misdeeds

IMDB is the only place that you can come together to discuss any film you want at any time. Al in one place easily. Destroying the community because of trolls is an extremely inappropriate measure.
If the board isnt kept open I will never use the site again.
