PLEASE keep the boards! They really are a lifeline, particularly for people who don't/can't get out much.

The whole purpose of imdb message boards is to encourage movie watching and to discuss movie related issues. Through my research I have not yet found any alternate site that offers the same features as imdb. Social media networking sites like facebook, twitter do not have the same features that enable users to interact on different issues. I hope that that you will reconsider your decision taking in to account the imdb user's concerns. Thank you

I don't want the boards shut down. I enjoy reading them to gain insignt to many of my favorite shows. And not everyone uses Facebook or Twitter to read about their shows. Please keep the boards.

Probably the dumbest decision I've ever seen a major website make. The boards are a HUGE part of the website. People get recommendations, ask questions, give explanations on a film, etc. and they're just going to take that away because of some trolls?

The imdb message boards are useful for film buffs like me, why remove it?
It's a great way of finding out from others about films that we've seen but not remember the title or who is in the film.
Yeah, there are some bad eggs in the boards (like in most boards and social media) but this is not the way to deal with it.

Without the boards, most regular users would most likely use Rotten Tomatoes and Wikipedia for trivia and film knowledge.

This is one of your most unique features--discussions of even the most obscure of movies with others who've seen them, For many of such discussions, you can't find a place for them anywhere else. Don't let the trolls win. I'm sure many of us (myself included) would help moderate these if there are complaints. I would help with that too, if it meant keeping this valuable feature open. Plus I know the boards must attract significant numbers of pageviews.

Message boards are the place to get more insights in a movie when the trivia and other info won't. Shutting that down will take away IMDb value for thousands of people...

As an IMDb user for well over 10 years I am appalled by this short sighted decision, which at a stroke effectively disenfranchises your community of dedicated users. community

Closing down the boards will lead to me, and many other visitors viewing the site about 5% as often as I currently do. It is an archive of fabulous discussions and historical opinions that is second to none. What a complete shame that it is due to be shut down forever. Sad, sad times. :(
