Why even get rid of the message boards? This is ridiculous. I come here to get opinions, ask questions, and see other movie fans. Please don't get rid of the comments sections!!!

Bye, bye from a daily user if the boards go. Thinking of boycotting Amazon as well, and I literally ordered thousands of items there since 1998.

As a film buff of 65 years, I find the deletion of message boards truly painful. I am on Disability and am housebound for much of the time; I have a number of pain syndromes, and I need the distraction of reading and writing about this topic. I watch movies and many "retro-style" TV programming. Almost every time I watch anything, I come to IMDb to share opinions or simply to read what fellow fans have to say.
Also, the boards are a remarkable source of trivia and other information. If those are deleted, an astonishing amount of knowledge will be lost. What is truly special: People often share personal stories about actors, directors, movies and much more. How sad to lose their memories!
I stress this: I come to IMDb EVERY day, MANY times each day~throughout the morning, afternoon, evening and night. Some people pore over magazines and newspapers; I fill much of my time by adding to my knowledge of filmdom and more. I find some release from pain and am distracted as I learn.
I understand that some activities could be cleared out, polls included. I could understand doing away with personal messages. But, to do away with the boards is truly essential for fans, whether old-timers or budding ones.
I might be just one sickly old lady, and I likely mean nothing to you. But, this is so important to me. It made IMDb special over all other sites. When I participate in movie and TV Q&A sites, my go-to references are 1) IMDb; and 2) not-as-reliable Wikipedia. There is no other site like IMDb. Your destruction of this site is absolutely heartbreaking to me! I don't doubt that many others will feel the same way.
PLEASE don't be so cruel to your loyal followers!
Again, I'm just an old woman, one who is chronically ill with life-threatening ailments. I honestly am not exaggerating about IMDb's importance, particularly the message boards. I think how often that we fans add threads alerting others that obscure films will be shown on COMET, GRIT, THIS and other

Please keep the boards open. They are incredibly helpful to use after I watch a show or film & have questions or want to discuss something. I've been a member for 12 years. I use the site everyday specifically for the message boards. Please keep them!

I find imdb message boards valuable if I have a query or comment about a film or TV programme. Yeah, there are trolls, but my experience on imdb message boards helped me develop coping mechanisms on how to deal with trolls. And I also met a lot of really interesting people there.

The IMDb message board is the only place I've visited daily on the internet for the last 10 years, getting rid of it will mean having to say farewell to friends I've known for years.

Please, don't shut down the message boards. There were so many films that I had found vague and the ending ambiguous but someone enlightened me about so many meanings. It helps me reassess my movies everytime!
Message boards are the main reason I use imdb
