Petition to keep the IMDB messageboards going

I've been coming to the imdb boards for over a decade. I visit the movie boards after each movie, even ones I've seen multiple times, just to read other people's comments and observations. Without the boards, I don't know what reason I'd have to come to imdb anymore, and it makes me so sad.

Don't be a bunch of dickheads IMDB, removing your message boards will be the death knell of your website. Bring them back. I will never visit your site again of this is a permanent fixture. You have sold out.

"IMDb's message boards are no longer providing a positive, useful experience for the vast majority of our more than 250 million monthly users" I disagree entirely with this statement. Yes, I have been insulted on here like most others. I've also been insulted on Youtube and Facebook. Are they to be shut down next? I love the forums, the discussion on minor points of trivia on hundreds of films. The forums are an endless source of interesting opinions and discussion. I also find that most people are pretty respectful. If this goes ahead, I will be spending way less time on IMDb.

This is maddening. The boards are the best thing about IMDB and the only aspect separating the site from other sites. Where else can you go and find discussion on some obscure 50s movie? You can't really expect people to use twitter and snapchat to have serious movie discussion, can you? People will leave. Frankly, it's the most important feature on the site. We can go to other sites for information. There wouldn't be any good reason to visit anymore. If you really cared about your users, you would list to them and end this madness.

I've been a member of the boards for more than a decade. This is an extremely valuable resource that is not even close to available anywhere else.

Bad move getting rid of the message boards. I go there to discuss with people a movie I just watched or talk about my excitement for the latest film. This has been THE place for the internet to discuss movies and shows since the 90's. If someone is offended by any comments on a thread, they don't have to be there. This is so stupid! Now instead of going to IMDb, I will have to find some other website to talk about this stuff.

I've never come across another site quite like IMDB, and the message boards are the biggest appeal.

The main reason I visit imdb is for the message boards. What a shame it would be to see all that archived information lost forever.

Please don't take away the message boards, I enjoy talking with my "friends" online regarding shows I follow.

Keep the message boards. No reason to get rid of them.

I understand closing down boards for each film/actor, but closing main boards is a bit daft

The message boards are a wonderful feature of the site and a main reason why I show up everyday.

Closing the boards makes no sense; they provide a crucial venue in which people can share insights about both mainstream and obscure works, and for many of us the boards are a good source of opposing viewpoints expressed civilly. Don't take this away. Thanks.

This is the most useful part of your website. Please don't take it down.
