I probably wouldn't bother visiting IMDB without the message boards. Wiki provides adequate information about plot summaries and actors etc. Without an outlet to discuss unique aspects and theories of the film, what makes IMDB different?

IMDB are just shooting themselves in the foot if they shut the message boards down. The boards are what made IMDB worth visiting in the first place.

Please do not get rid of the message boards. They are used often and are a fantastic resource for all things films related.

Many lonely souls need these boards. Life would be duller without them.

Please don't let the trolls win. The idea that people can have the same kind of discussions about movies and tv on facebook, twitter, etc is ridiculous. You are really alienating a good portion of your website's visitors.

Imdb won't be Imdb without the message boards. Part of the enjoyment of the sight was the discussions taking place on the movies and shows.

I have been using IMDB Message boards since the mid-90's when my high school got Internet, it has been a lifetime and now you are ending it? Please don't. Some of the most inspirational posts and comments I have ever read have come from these forums, and have shaped an entire generation of TV show and movie discussion. Please keep the forums going. Thanks in advance.

The message boards at IMDb have become the centre of many people's film-lives. They have problems, but the problems could be solved (by human moderation, notably). The gap can probably not be filmed. And by the way, what in all hell does 'leveraging emerging technologies and opportunities' mean? Even the bottom end of the board posters writes better than that.

Looking at the thousands of comments it seems the message boards are very popular and I agree. There seems to be a constant stream of people using them even some recent comments on what I thought were long forgotten movies, So to say only a few use the boards is a lame reason.

I love the boards on this site. Most of the topics on most boards I frequent are very insightful and informative. They are places where people can share ideas and should NOT be taken away!

will stop using the site with no message boards. it is the best place to get information on movies and have discussions, they are trolls but every single website in the universe has trolls. learn to deal with them not fold under pressure

Really, really bad idea. IMDb is the only place you can go after watching some obscure film to find out and discuss explanations, theories, trivia, recommendations etc. I will stop using the site if the boards are discontinued.

The message boards are the best part of IMDb. Keep them open and stop trying to put a stop to free speech.

Save the messages, it's my go to guide for every film I watch, I love the opinions of others and explanations when I don't understand things in film. Absolute travesty to get rid of it. It's needs improving though like when I read a message it should go back to the page the message is on and not back to the very beginning.

The boards are an essential part of IMDb. It's highly likely I will stop using the site if the boards close.

The boards are what makes IMDb different. Without them you might as well shut down the site all together.
