Crazy move IMDb!! We might as well read movie details on Wikipedia now. The boards MAKE IMDb - read past the trolls (like every user knows how to do) and the in depth discussions, explinations and fan theories are what I visit the site for. You can't talk single movies on Facebook. You can't read discussions that took place 5 years ago about a film you've just watched. If they are going - at least just close them. Removing them would lose so much information. Sad day for the web.

I can't imagine coming to IMDb without having message boards.
The people who post here are what makes it worthwhile.

I've been on IMDb for close to a decade now.
Not having too many friends that are as interested in film and tv shows, the message boards gave me the possibility to talk to people that were as interested as I am.
I connected to people from all over the world, getting insight on movies I didnt get or had another opinion on.
If you close the boards you will take a place, a niche, away from people that share one passion.

You can't disable the message boards. I personally have been using them for over 10 years. You just need to work harder to moderate them.

Getting rid of the message boards would severely diminish my incentive to use IMDB. There are still a couple uses for it, but I'll be looking for an alternative community for discussions, and that may also provide alternates for the only other reasons I'd use IMDb, in which case I would happily never use IMDb again.

I won't have anywhere else to discuss my favorite shows and actors if this closes. I've been here for years, and it's been a big help. I won't be back to IMDb very much if there are no message boards.

Please, you are forcing people to obtain social media accounts just to discuss things that would normally be on the message boards. About 50% of the reason I go on IMDb is for the boards. And I have done so for close to 2 decades. Since IMDb was a British site.
