Why kill the one thing that makes your site valuable? Without the boards, you'll lose a lot of traffic and imdb will die. The boards are a unique feature (people can get synopsis, credits info, and trailers elsewhere). If money is the issue, then charge users -- and keep this valuable archive alive.

The human interaction is the best part of the IMDb. The learning and the sharing is informative and special.

IMDb w/o Message Board is just like another Wikipedia or those YouTube videos with disabled comment section. Sucks.

I've had an account for 10 years now. My movie ritual is watching the movie, browsing through the IMDb page of it through, letting myself get distracted by anything that catches my attention, ending up on the message boards where I spend the most time at. Please don't disable this feature, it's always so refreshing and interesting to read the different things people have noticed regarding a movie, or the opportunity for us to propose a topic and see what others have to say about it. Facebook, Twitter is too cluttered for these kinds of "concentrated" talks. It's like reading a book in a small, hidden, silent coffee shop vs. reading a book in a shopping mall. It just doesn't work.
The message boards are what MAKES IMDb for many people...

I love films and imdb. IMDb is more that the rating or info on films, it's a rare opportunity to discuss any film, young or old, with like people who love films. I have learned so much in the 11 years I've been using IMDB, it is the bread and butter of my hobbies. I prefer it over any other social media site. Removing the message boards is a mistake you will come to regret. Please don't take it away.

People bond over films on the IMDB message boards, why rob them of that?

The message forums are a positive and vital experience on IMDb, and the site would be arid indeed without them. Despite the undoubted issues that a large number of lightly moderated boards can lend themselves to , the positive aspects of this service far outweigh the negatives. It would be a great mistake to strip away this feature and it seems unlikely that doing so would contribute in any way to the overall health of the site.

I can´t believe this decision. I learnt a lot of information, interpretation about movies from the message boards.

I thoroughly enjoy the IMDb message boards. I frequently peruse them to learn more about a film or actor. I love reading the conversations between users as they debate theories. I love exploring a deeper meaning of a film based on a new perspective from a user. I just don't see how social media platforms will serve the same purpose. There is no way to "database" individual topics, which allows for an ongoing discussion thread among users. Please don't shut the board down.
