This action is pure selfishness on Col Needham's part. Col has never bothered to interface with the message boards and so knows nothing about them.

What a shame. Facebook isn't set up for reference and checking out opinions on targeted movies and tv shows. It's just endless promotion from IMDb.

Dear GOD, I vote to keep this open too!
The first thing I do when I really like a TV show or movie is look it up on the IMDB message boards to get an idea of what other people think of it ... do they notice the same things I do, like the same things, hate the same things ...?
I also love reading people's theories, getting to share mine, and having people share links to something relevant that I didn't know about. Having this taken away from me will be a HUGE disappointment, especially since I have been looking forward to some new shows that haven't yet aired that will certainly generate a lot of speculation.
IMDB, this is a major mistake, a betrayal of your many users and fans, and an epic fail reminiscent of New Coke.

Message boards are the 2nd most common thing I go into on IMDb. I just learned of this decision today (Friday 2/3/17). I didn't see any kind of user involvement or input. I don't buy for one second the notion thAt most users don use the message board. Based on how many new comments I see every single day, that a ridiculous assumption. I think this will ultimately ring. The death knoll for IMDb.

The message boards is the main reason why I come to IMDB. It's fun to see all the comments about my favorite shows. This site will truly suck without it.

I love reading about old movies from people that know the history of that film. I don't pay attention to the stupid personal comments that I occasionally see. Please keep the message boards.

I've been on IMDb for nearly 10 years. The message boards are the sole reason I come here. I don't do 'social media' - but obviously I don't count. it almost makes me regret having supported IMDb over the past years.

I use IMDB DAILY and have done since the 1990's if the message boards close I will have absolutely NO reason to visit every day. I can get my information about movies etc. from many different sources but the ability to read and participate in discussions about films and TV shows is a HUGE part of why I have kept coming back. This seems like an incredibly short sighted and potentially devastating decision to make, have you any idea just how much traffic you are going to lose? That in turn will impact upon your advertising revenue. Social media CANNOT function in the same way as the message boards - if it did then you'd have seen a drop in the message boards popularity a long time ago!

This is one my favorite places to go and discuss movies and tv shows with other like minded people & get different takes on things. Please don't take this aspect away! User since 2005.

Take political boards off -- make it a movie site again! Plus, volunteer moderators?

Please keep the imdb boards up! Yes, unfortunately there are some rude people, but many of us love these boards and ignore those people. I enjoy reading others thoughts on the boards!

The message board is one of the best ways to find out details about a movie or TV show. I use the message board much more than I do anything else.

Unbelievable. Not everyone goes to FB or Twitter. IMDb is the only place to go to discuss every film and every show. Very sad decision.
