Petition to keep the IMDB messageboards going

the message boards ARE the most valuable asset the IMDB has. What the movie director, producer says the "meaning" of a film is should not be "law" ...the public that sees the film and generates their own opinions should be what counts. Now we'll have a hard time finding that out

Please keep the message boards. I use them daily and enjoy discussing my favorite shows on IMDB.

Please keep the boards open. There's no others quite like this and it'd be a loss for everyone to see this great feature go. Everything else imdb offers I can find in any other site, it's the boards that keep people coming back. Be wise!

The message boards are my main reason for going onto IMDb. Com. I have been using the site for over 10 years abs will be very upset if they are removed. Please reconsider doing so.

Although I'm not much of a poster, I do love coming to the message boards after I watch a show or movie to see what everyone else is saying about it. I've been apart of the imdb community for over a decade and would hate to lose this feature.

I am broken hearted to hear that this feature of IMDB might be permanently disabled! It has been a long-enjoyed source of community and conversation around the tv shows I love for myself and many of my friends. I think better screening to weed out the non-constructive and mean spirited threads before they are officially posted seems like a far more rational solution than shutting them down altogether.

250 million users worldwide. But perhaps not all of them are English-speakers who can take full advantage of the message board feature? Since Google searches for movies place IMDb close to the top, even non-English speakers will likely stumble across IMDb when they do a movie or actor search and browse it. There must be a large number of users who do not have enough command of the English language to feel comfortable carrying on a conversation via message board but stumble around the other main sections of IMDb anyways? Furthermore, how many of the purported 250 million users have invested in creating an actual IMDb account in order to be able to post on the message boards instead of just casually browsing? I don't feel comfortable with the lack of transparency and the vague reasons given for getting rid of the message boards.

Pleasrienne don't shut down the boards. There are people who use it respectfully and count on it.

My favorite site to come to each and every day. I won't use the site without the message boards. PLEASE RECONSIDER!

Please don't close the messageboards. I've been a member for almost twenty years. I love watching live tv or movies and posting to the boards with people from around the world. I rely on the boards for truthful reviews. That social aspect is not the same on Twitter or Facebook. Please reconsider closing the boards.

I love the message boards. They are the best thing about IMDB.

There are problems, but there are solutions to those problems. Nothing every other high profile message board on the Internet hasn't had to solve.
