Been here for 15 years. Message boards on IMDb have been my go-to place for movie, actor and director reccomendations since childhood.
Not all of us are trolls and many of us have deep roots on the message boards, even if we no longer have an account there.
I, for one, will stop visiting IMDb altogethet should the message boards shut down.

IMDB m boards are great source of information and i spend hours there to interpret confusions and read the perspective of others. One of the most important and original parts of your site and one of the greatest movie related places on the web. FB is a mess compared to your boards. Please don't shut it down.

nothing will ever replace the appeal of checking the IMDb boards right after watching even the most obscure of movies to read all the different reactions and interpretations

The posting boards are one of the most enjoyable aspects of IMDB - once they are gone, there is nothing really to replace them (they need to be connected to the listings on the films, actors, directors, etc). And directing people to Facebook is unacceptable - not everyone wants to share every single thing they comment on the Internet with all of their Facebook friends (I don't want my Mom reading a comment I made on how hot I think a certain actress is, etc).
PLEASE DO NOT GET RID OF THE POSTING BOARDS!!!!!!!!!!!

There will always be mean-spirited or ill-mannered commenters; that's inevitable. Getting rid of a discussion board isn't going to solve the problem, and actually puts everyone else at a disadvantage. The solution should be to have IMDB moderators who can report hateful comments or comments that go against IMDB's policies. That way, the well-intentioned people can still comment and you eliminate the bullies or ill-mannered people. IMDB is a place for movie lovers to come together-- please do not take this place away from us.

What's IMDB without the message boards? Please reconsider doing away with them, they're why I come here.

I learn so much more about the movies, shows and actors through the message boards. The boards are my reason for using IMDB online and for using the app.

It's a main source for how I gauge audience reception and I'm a tv show reviewer.

IMDB - I don't think you know what you're doing. Your message boards are some of the best on the 'net. So what if there is the occasional troll. There are far more informative posters who engage in lively discussion and take time to answer questions. Don't close the boards!
