I don't even understand why they have to remove this feature. Can't they just leave it there...

I am shocked and saddened by the removal of the message boards. While I don't post a lot, I visit the boards daily. I always visit them after watching a movie, and frequently for various TV shows as there is often news there first. I don't use FB, Twitter or other social media. And, without the boards, I won't visit IMDB very often any more. I see no reason to have to use a message board outside of the IMDB website, so won't be signing up for the replacement. So sad. I've been a user since the very beginning.

The boards are where I find out what shows to watch. Where we discuss theory and news and there's no other place like it. So many people are distraught of the loss of something they find so important. Couldn't you reconsider? What about making some guidelines and assigning users to be moderators? Then you wouldn't have to waste your time or resources on the message boards.

IMDb is life; without it, then we have no knowledge of everything that we watch or read about. We need to learn things and be able to discuss them rationally (somewhat) with each other.

I agree that the politics, soapbox and sandbox boards should be shut down, but would ask that the movie comments boards be kept open. They give users an idea of what the movies are about and are still useful.

I go to the Imdb message boards almost every time I watch a movie, for the discussion threads--it's the only thing I really use iMDb for!! Please don't take it away! This is a fantastic resource for discussing old, obscure films with like-minded users. I've been using the message boards since 2004!
