A lot of the IMDb experience for me as well as others has always been the option to share opinions on the message boards. They provide a dynamic milieu in which to discuss and debate movies and TV shows. Without the boards I doubt I'd spend much time at IMDb, and I think that goes for others as well. I know the boards are a major headache in terms of policing for violation of the TOS, And I understand the reasoning behind the decision to pull the plug. But I think, in the long run, it will hurt, more than help, IMDb.

The message boards are the best feature of IMDB. I have enjoyed reading other people's takes on movies for years. What a loss.

IMDb needs to hire a proper mod team to clean up the boards. There are discussions for SO many smaller indie, foreign and obscure films that would be lost and the ability to interact with like minded film fans.
Everyone can discuss the latest blockbuster on various social media but there is no equivalent for cult films.

Imdb message board is the reason I keep coming back to this website/app if that goes away why even bother logging on and not reading people's opinions on movies and shows, your "small group of passionate imdb members" is not very small at all but very popular

No one on Facebook has a clue about the specifics of old, obscure movies. Let alone are on FB. If they are.., they are in private cliques. IMDB was a public hub. The amount of specific information there is priceless. You expect these people to all come over to the IMDB FB page to learn about and discuss "The Nude Vampire (1970)" ... ?? riight.

Please keep the message boards open! It's the best place to discuss what happened in the tv show that you just watched or what did everyone REALLY think of that movie.
Please keep them open.

Some people are saying that big studios are pressuring IMDB because they can't stand the hate and criticism for some, mostly new released, big movies.

Who benefits from this? Because some people don't like some of the posts the boards must come down? Why is the world pandering to the self-important vocal minority?

removing the message boards will utterly destroy the usefulness of this site. I have always visited the message boards after watching a movie or TV show to read the discussions. Without the boards the site just becomes TV Guide.
