The message boards are a highly valued function on the site which allow thoughtful discussion of any aspect of a film and its cast a few crew, no matter how small or specific. This is irreplaceable and the idea that Facebook or Twitter could offer a similar service is laughable. I doubt I would continue to use IMDB over Wikipedia if the message boards were removed.

Been using IMDB since '99; the forums let you communicate with other fans of movies that you enjoy and make the site what it is. What's the point of visiting anymore when I can just check Wikipedia? Keep the forums open, please!

Although the trolls are plenty, it really does serve a useful function. I always check out the comments on a film before watching it and in many cases I choose a film because a particular poster that I like has rated it highly. The IMDb message boards are their own special blend of social media.

I go to imdb's message board after I watch a show or movie to learn more information or to hear people's opinions. Some of the things I see are older shows and movies. I seriously doubt Facebook will have a discussion about those. Keep the message boards!

I will uninstall your app IMDb and never visit your website again if you shut down these message boards. ESPN did a similar thing going to Facebook only comments and their traffic has slowed tremdously and so will yours! Reverse your decision or prepare for far less website traffic!

I've used IMDb for 17 years. It is very useful and I have only run across a very few trolls. It serves an important purpose for film and TV fans to discuss shows. Do not remove this forum. There are many literate people here who have no other forum of like minded people to go to. Other such forums are almost useless and riddled with ads which freeze the browser. I have seen great conversations on the IMDb board sparked by TV shows and movies.

This is a place of nurture and love for the films and shows we simply cant live without, I'm sure if you were to allow volunteer moderators or have a system of flagging comments, we can certainly keep the trolls out and knowledge in.

I use the message board frequently. I am always finding like minded people when I watch anything from a short film to a television show to a movie. This is a vast community. It would be a great loss to lose such a place to discuss.
