save the discussion boards

I have read and used the IMDb message boards for at least 13 years now, and from everything I've seen of them, it would be a large LOSS for the world's movie-going community if the boards are no more. Like others have said, there is NO other online forum that fills the niche and provides the services that the IMDb message boards do -- to the degree that the IMDb boards have done. Also, the boards are not just a forum for sharing opinions, but also facts and information about films, filmmakers, and the business and art of filmmaking. This has all contributed a lot to the public's knowledge and appreciation for film. There are also vibrant discussions on lower-budget movies, lesser-known movies, foreign movies, older movies (even those MORE than 100 years old now), less famous actors and filmmakers, etc. I haven't seen social media discussions come anywhere CLOSE to what the IMDb boards provide in those areas, especially when it comes to information for lesser-known and older films. The IMDb boards were also built in such a way to encourage serendipitous discoveries and discussions of movies, actors, etc. that a user may have never seen before. The message boards are thus INTEGRAL to user interactions with most other features of IMDb, and therefore the removal of the message boards would be a huge blow to the usefulness of IMDb in general. As a lifelong movie lover and a person whose appreciation and understanding for movies has been helped by the IMDb boards for more than a decade, I wish for the boards to stay and live on!

For many years, whenever there comes a movie that have a sophisticated ending, we will head on to IMDb message board and read up on what other fans have to say. IMDb message board actually gives us one of the best platform in the world (not exaggerating) to share our opinions with like-minded fans. If the board were to close, what are the alternatives we are left with? NONE. There are no more platform that are as organized as IMDb boards.

It's a great resource for real opinions. There is no reason to remove the boards other than behind the scenes strong-arming.

The IMDb boards are unlike any other in that they allow a clear, focused discussion on our experiences and television. I will sorely miss being able to engage with the community of fans that allow me to further my understanding and enjoyment of the works that affect me.

Please don't disable the message boards as I will lose contact with a lot of fellow posters.I think IMDb is unique in that there is a friendly environment where anything can be discussed and there isn't really any other site that can replace it.Please reconsider.

Been posting here for several years and most of the people are polite and respectful and it would be a huge shame if this were to cease. Please reconsider !!! Thanks

I'm sorry, I didn't get to read the end of your last tweet, it was too long and cut off toward the end. "Social Media is not social at all!!! It's really insulting to try and push us to Twitter & co. How are you supposed to discuss a movie with" Could you please finish this with a 2nd tweet, thanks.

Mesage boards are an excellent community and a great source of knowledge and info. I would't use IMDB again if the message boards were finished.

IMDB without mesage boards is like sex without an orgasm. What's the point?

Social Media is not social at all!!! It's really insulting to try and push us to Twitter & co. How are you supposed to discuss a movie with 140 characters???
