This feels like the internet equivalent to burning books. Big shame if it happens. I've spent countless hours reading through some very interesting and enlightening discourse about film and television on the IMDB boards. There won't be the same level on intellectual engagement on the social media sources IMDB has suggested. Another website will pop up to fill the void, but I always liked IMDB's balance of the database, news, and open forums. Ah well, IMDB will only realize their mistake when it's too late.

please please don't get rid the message boards. they're mecca of discussion boards to talk to like minded people about celebrities, shows and movies.

I don't use Facebook and Twitter and I don't like to be forced to use ist. I'm at the message boards every day... you gonna take that from me!

I hope that you will reconsider your decision to close the IMDb message boards. They have been so useful to me. Amend the message boards if necessary but please don't let us lose them altogether.

Message boards go, I go. Plain and simple. Someone else will pick up on this opportunity and their mistake. Stupid business decision on their part. Just trying to force people to social media ways to cram paid advertising down their throats.

There is no reason to get rid of the message boards. Just implement a better policy to get rid of trolls/spammers. The message boards are the ONLY reason I spend time on IMDB.

I may not comment much but I find the boards invaluable for information from like minded people. There is a depth to the discussions that you cannot find elsewhere. Please keep the boards.

The IMDB boards is the single most useful feature of IMDb.com period. Giving up on this feature is cutting down a great chunk of your daily traffic to the profit of other online competitor.
Closing the boards is both short-sighted and a bad business decision overall.
