I was really upset to hear this. This is where I go to see what people are saying about the show I watch. Next to the rating of a show, this is one of the few things that interests me on IMDb.

I enjoy discussing politics on Imdb. Please don't disable the boards.

The IMDb boards are an essential part of my daily internet usage. The sense of community that I have experienced over the years on so many different boards is of massive importance to me and many like me. Leave them up.

IMDb without the messageboards, what's the point?

The message boards are the best part.

Won't be any reason to use your site once the boards are gone. I can get the same info from Wikipedia.

I believe in having options in life. It seems that in the world of the internet, we're always being told how to experience and enjoy it, instead of getting to choose. By removing the forums, our choice is removed.

This is the only place I know where I can discuss the film or TV series I am watching. To have to go to IMDB to see who is in it and then go somewhere else to discuss it is silly. Keep the message boards!

Member since 2004, message boards are the main reason for using IMDB. I don't do any social media, not a smart move IMDB

I have been a member of IMDB since 2002. The reason I joined the site was because of the message boards. I understand that trolls are a problem, but they are a problem on every social media platform. I don't believe the solution is to get rid of a huge reason why people visit IMDB in the first place. I am a member of many Movie sites with message boards, but the IMDB boards feel like home. I hope the "powers that be" change their minds on this decision. I think to carry on with this will be detrimental to the site itself.

The message boards add to what makes your site so great. Don't give in to the trolls. You're taking the easy way out!!

Been a member there for over 11 years. I was a regular on the LOST board, and a member of the community there. It was a real community. Two of them got married! The boards are why everyone goes there! It’s all about the board communities, the good and fun conversations! That’s what IMDb is! The boards ARE IMDb! And now they’re going to remove them. 11 years. All those discussions, all those years people have spent there, all those connections people have made, the awesome communities…deleted. Destroyed. Because the out of touch owners the site thinks it’s not a “useful experience”. Because of ” data and traffic.” It’s just disgusting and really depressing. They’re removing a staple of my online life. Of so many people’s lives. It’s sort of like when facebook removed discussion forums for groups because they wanted it to be quicker and more like a wall, destroying communities then, deleting good conversations where people got to know each other and had valuable experiences. But it’s also that much worse than that because facebook had only existed for a few years then. The IMDb boards have been there since I was 15, and I’ve been posting in and reading them since then. It’s just disgusting. It’s not theirs. That’s the mistake they make. They’re soulless and detached, they just care about shaping “their” site like they want it to be, not even knowing, let alone caring, what they destroy in the process. But it’s not theirs. Facebook groups did not belong to the owners/managers of facebook, and the IMDb boards do not belong to the owners of IMDb. They belong to the communities that are built there, the connections that are made, the worlds that are created. But unfortunately, these owners can destroy worlds, massacre communities, sever connections. That’s what facebook did, and IMDb are now taking that to an unprecedented new level.

The message boards, apart of providing fun and witticism, have often provided stirring, intelligent discussions, brought up some uncanny and profound speculations, and further more, several members have over the years well-grounded and sometimes obscure facts about film productions, actors, directors, and such more, which makes it even more damning that these imdb boards would vanish out of existence.

I have been using the messageboards for a decade. It is what makes imdb so popular.
